sheerheartattack - jerk...simply cause you are such a hardcore pillows fan you are afraid of being critical. being critical is a good thing, and is the only way things can get better.
Being critical is great. Being a moron is not.

My moron-sense is tingling, but that does tend to happen whenever I involve myself in human interaction.

actually I like and listen to all the songs I mentioned as them selling out. Assumptions about character lose again!
I dont rarely let things like popularity, commercial use, obscurity, and rarity influence what I think is good music.
Camio - wake up dodo is the theme song to ben10, scarecrow is the ending theme to some anime(no real integration - read the first post if you dont understand,) the rest sure...not sold out. BUT we're not talking about if individual songs sell out, its about the bands direction towards the future...and so far it points to sell out.
It was Ladybird Girl that was used in Ben 10. Unless it was both, then it's new to me. Yes SCARECROW was used as an ending but Sawao didnt write it for commercial use. It was written about him and his bandmates.
I'm not sure wether or not the band is going to sell out in the future. i dont think it will. Sawao is a big music listener and grew up on punk. Avex will probably approach them with alot of people requesting using their music though, since that is just something Avex seems to do.
I dont blame you for think they'd sell out. Who knows they might. But again, recently they've turned their attention onto their older work. To me thats a good sign that they wont.

Well, now you're just freely admitting that you didn't actually have a rational point in that post. Good job. That still makes me right.

on the contrary. I posted about what songs I thought the pillows sold out on. Not which songs I like. The subject of the thread was our opinions on if/how the pillows sold out. My post was about that. Not about which songs I liked best. I know how to differentiate the two.

heh I know. But since it just screamed that it was written for fans. (what with the pv with the super fan) and the kind of pop/rock style of it. I consider it more made for fans then a song of passion.
Though I can see Sawao writing a song out of passion for fans. I guess you'd really have to talk to Sawao to figure it out.

Big deal.
This is one thread that's viable for a lock, as the longer it continues, the more Camio will break his initial argument down.

First of all, nowhere in this thread is there even the semblance of a definition to "selling out," or even if it is a valid term (which it is not). Either you like a song or you don't - that is the ultimate extent to which you can have a valid point.

Now you've made the leap from "subtle bullshit" to "full-blown bullshit." I mean, "written for fans?" "Song of passion?" Seriously, whiskey tango foxtrot? What universe do you live in where there are objective measures of who Sawao writes for, how passionate they are, and exactly how "selling out" ties to any of this?
Here is how music works:
Musicians write and play songs. Motivation is irrelevant. Fans listen to and evaluate songs. There is a continuum between "like" and "dislike" to which each fan attributes to a song. These attributions widely vary, and are entirely subjective. The end.

I would have locked it the moment I saw it because it's obviously worthless, but if I had done it then instead of after your request, I would have gotten essays, wouldn't I have?
Sometimes as a mod I make judgment calls about threads. When I notice a new thread that is [spam/a duplicate/borderline flame bait/utter stupidity], I can lock it quickly and prevent a likely piss fest, or I can wait until it degenerates into a pointless argument rife with insults before locking it. Keep this lovely excercise in failure in mind the next time you feel upset that I lock something.
