an auction snipe would work a lot better if we had 6 people doing it, instead of just 1.
I say no one from IM bids anymore and attempt to do the coveted AUCTION SNIPE!
You mean one of those sites that takes your Ebay password?

@Overburn: Wouldn't that just cost more money for the person who wins?

No, actually, bidding constantly would make it more expensive. And @ Overburn, if we had say, Grey, Mare, Rockman, and squint perform the snipe, it could potentially work. We'd just need to coordinate.

Oh yeah, in order to auction snipe something, what you do is wait for the bidding time to get down to less than a minute (within ten seconds preferably, but riskier.) and place your bid to be higher than that what's currently bid to "snipe" the auction, since ebay will automatically recognize your bid. It works out because ebay only updates a person's bid on their max price by a fixed amount of time. Example:

Bidder #1 bids at maximum of 90 dollars, but the current price is ten dollars, so ebay marks the new current bid (his) at like $10.50.

Bidder #2 enters the fray, placing an immediate bid at 35 dollars, with a max bid going at 70 dollars.

An hour or so later, ebay updates bidder #1's price and places the bid up to 40 dollars.

Another hour, ebay updates the page in favor of bidder 2, making the price forty dollars or whatever. (These examples are nowhere near precise, but it paints a general picture.) The bidding process continues so on and so fourth until bidder #1 drops 75 bones on the item in question.

Now let's say in an IDEAL auction snipe, there has only been the one bidder who has placed a 75 dollar max bid, but the current price is 40 dollars because no one else is contesting him. Instead of wasting the money in a bidding war, rising the price, by waiting until the last minute to place a bid, ebay will outbid the first bidder and you will obtain the item for say... $42.50. Normally, with bidding, you'd need to pay over 75 dollars, but with an auction snipe you can save quite a bit of money, if you don't care about pissing other people off too much.

I'd imagine such a rare pirouzu PV could get quite expensive, which is why I suggested the auction snipe, and if it's executed properly, we can almost guarantee a victory for the forum members and the entire intraweb, lest it fall into the hands of a... um... non-sharing-is-caring person.

Yeah, I don't really feel like paying $75 for a fucking tape, so just don't bid or something. If anyone else here ends up getting it though, you can still send it to me, or have it sent to me and I'll do the rip and send it back to you.

BTW, was that somewhere here who won this guy's autographed TYMT poster a month ago? I couldn't allow myself to bid higher than $80 and someone else got it; I didn't give a shit about the autographs, I just wanted the poster.

That's the logic for using auction snipes. I got really pissed when I was going to snipe a pc a while back, buy my internet decided to be really gay and bid after the auction ended.

But I got this laptop in the end for about the same price and specs so it wasn't necessarily a bad thing that dial-up sucks so hard in that instance.

(P.S. Iirc, it was an auction I discovered ending in like three minutes or something, by the time I read the specs, went oshii~!, and logged in there was about twenty seconds left to place a bid, but someone else tried to snipe it so the current price got all screwed up and my bid was the same amount as the snipe's was. Having eight seconds to snipe that shit with dial-up wasn't feasible.)

75 bucks for the Kanojo wa Shisuta PV is taking one for the team, gentlemen. It is the moral thing to do.

I'm just thinking that $75 could be spent better. Much better.

Really, how dramatically will seeing the Kanojo wa SHISUTA video change your life? Yeah, I'm all into collection completion. I think it'd be great if someone picked this up and uploaded it. But seriously. $75, to me, is about eight and a half hours of work. For me, it's what I'd call a "long shift", and I don't know if I'd want to blow all the cash I got from that on an old, rare, average* pillows music video.
*Oh admit it. It's not THAT great of a song.

I've always thought it was a really great song.

Anyway, I vote to let xtsquintx win the auction.

Well, two prick bastards did a bid war in the last 10 seconds and it went for $42; the guy who won didn't have any feedback and only created the account 5 days ago. This has happened to me a few times before and it's really irritating, more so because they seem like fake ass accounts.
