sheesh. they're not in wheelchairs yet. :eh:

but i don't see how overuse of eighths means anything. you can play any song faster or slower. >__>

It means that there was a lack of variety in the time signatures on the record and nothing more-- You -can- play any song in a higher or lower tempo, but they simply didn't. I think the album was forced out a little too quickly for some reason or another, not as if it wasn't good, it just wasn't quite done yet, or so it felt to me. As Keitaro noted, it was just as if the inspiration wasn't there, but the willpower was. Hopefully, they'll sit and play things out a little more with the next one, if it comes.

I'm happy with Jun's work lately as well, in and out of the pillows. Pardon this--

To certain people: Get your lips off of Kashima's behind.

Jun is in to stay for awhile and he's excellent in his position. Grow up.

Terra, we're talking about strum pattern, not tempo. And yes, it would be very nice to have drums that relate to the song. But due to Sawao's boring strum patterns, there aren't many punches or places for Shin to do anything. Just dance beat, or generic rock beat behind everything. The drummer is supposed to lead the band, not sit behind and follow.

I never thought about it like that. Interesting.

If you think about it, the "dance beat" is just another alternative for the "Shin Generic Beat" (i.e. My Girl, Little Busters, I Think I Can, Hybrid Rainbow, Instant Music, Rush, etc, etc, etc...)

Shin's drum beats haven't really been that interesting, or as varied since Please Mr. Lostman. It doesn't necesarily mean that he can't stand out in a few songs throughout the record... However, I completely agree that the drums on the album are bland, when compared to other records.

Perhaps if we can frankenstein Good Dreams + My Foot, we'll have the next big Pillows album...? :3

For me the most probable reason for that is all The Pillows want is to chages the most they can, passing through all the possible styles, conquering in all of them, at least one who likes the song, and that's just kind of them. Isn't it being like this just since they started? Imagine a 1990-1992 fan, he has big chances of thinking PML and all those golden albums for us, is horrible, just some pop/punk rock thrown away.

I don't even know if I know any band who's ever had this kind of variety in songs.

Does this look very happy to you? No. More badass... and pissed. I wouldn't be surprised if Shin announced leaving the Pillows.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH nice, very nice.

I also feel as though Shin wasn't to his golden era of drumming. But nontheless, he's still pretty great after what, 14 years of drumming. You can't expect him to come out with a Crazy Sunshine and Blues Dive Monster every song of an album. But, you can expect him to do just a tad bit better than lately.

And for the record, I dont think Jun's THAT bad...
(please dont hurt me :X )

ok. so, clear up my confusion... why would the strum patterns limit the drumming? why wouldn't the drummer be able to do what he wants as long as everyone's playing using the same time signature?

Terra's music theory VS. Steve's? This should be good.
