I love the pillows older albums. Living field does not get enough credit and please mr.lostman in my opinon is more complete than runners high, smile, kool spice, penalty life and thank you my twilight combined.
Also im sorry but kool spice is not as good as good dreams. Or that white incarnation is better than happy bivouac. Just because something is older dose not mean its better. Granted this is only a opinion but Good Lord, could you imagine if the pillows believed that? All that great music would have not been made for today, if they continued to believe in a musically stoic format. Apathy is death and lucky for us the pillows realized that very early on. It is change, proggression and evolution that makes a truly inspiring, rocking band.
But what your losing sight of in my little essay (even though it only took me about 3-4 minutes to write) is what is important. Non fiction will be something special, but you guys don't have to believe in it if you don't want to. I only thought it would be nice to share some good news and the reasons behind it.
You see During my time on this mortal coil , I have listen to much music. From Very Good music (mostly) to very bad music. And that my friends is a very, very, very large understatment. So over the years Ive developed a ear to LISTEN objectively with observations for both good and bad music and gained the wisdom to know the difference.
As a result it has made me into some what of a sage on the matter of music. Hence the name Solomonic Thunder Whale, not only for the pillows connection but also because: 1= In the Native American culture believed whales were known for have been living the longest on earth and as result of being so old and wise the were opted to be the record keepers of all history and to have a knowledge beyond anything on earth. 2= The word Solomonic from nine miles is actually derived from king Solomon. The dictionary deffinition of Solomonic is something like having a unprecendented wisdom way beyond the years of anything else. I also have dealings in creating and performing music.
After so many years of dealing with music a friend who was very experimentive gave me but a taste of the pillows knowing I was open to all forms of music. I listened to them, then a little bit more and more. He moved on to other things shortly thereafter, I however became totally obssesed. I became addicted and the pillows were my #1 drug of choice and I couldnt quit. He continued supply me with thier music at first then I took the riens and plummeted down the rabbit hole.
Buying album after album I then discoverd something amazing. I realized why I was so infatuated with them. It was because they had become my favorite band in the world with out me even realizing it. And this was huge because I had never declared my self to a particular band and as result style music because I felt it would have to be honestly true. Other wise it is unfair to the band or all other bands I had listened to. But the reason why the pillows were my favorite band and loved them so was because no one else is like them. They are a group of artists who have evolved with one single reconnecting aspect: Pure Courage.
Day after day, without fear they continue to Rock. And to Rock I mean play music for people, for themselves, for eachother and for a reason. They also have no fear in where they decide to take thier music creatively. Which is more important then you realize. Having that kind of courage allows good things to happen and great music to be made. Thier no style approach has allowed them to exsist in a omni-musical prescence with no real boundaries or restrictions. Which in esscence is the very spirit of Rock n' Roll. Pure Freedom. Do you see how courage is a stepping stone to freedom? That is why I love them so much and fight for them so hard.
Many memorable bands have at least in point of thier career had shown this special courage and if you look hard enough you will see it. Honestly though the only other band to have come as close and as much as the pillows were the Beatles. and I honestly don't have the time to go into the redicoulously large amount of correlations between these two bands. But what is important to know is that the Beatles were on the same track as the pillows are on now. And thats something to smile about.
For a long while I was in the background of this forum not yet registered but observing your comments. I decided to finally join bestow my kwoledge and opinon of music and most importantly my love for the pillows. I now realize that you guys (and I say this as nice as possible with no disrespect) are immature. And its nothing to be ashamed about its part of the growing proccess. but keep in mind that a spoken word can go a long way and you should be sure of what you say before you speak.
So finally that is why I find it a little bit insulting when some punk nose snots starts talking shit on somone they don't even fucking know and has no way to back his ass up. Listen to yellow card? Are you out of your FUCKING MIND! Id rather fucking shoot my self. God dammit that really fucking pisses me off! I swear to God say some shit like that again and Ill shove a lighting bolt up your ass! That goes for all of you! I don't mind constructive criticism, but I will NOT tolerate half ass, bitchy comments after I have bled, sweat, and broken bones over truly rocking bands from the past and present. You don't even deserve to say the word rock, if you don't even know what it means. So don't talk like you think you know what I am, you know nothing.
With that said. Terra I do apologize to you, I enjoy your website and the forum very much and I do not disrespect you or this establishment. I also apologize to anyone who might have been offended by my speaking. I only meant to lash out at those who were truly cruel. That rant was not for every one only those who know who they are. And God help us if we tolerate that kind of injustice. Thankyou and have a nice day.
