I'm loving the new single. Hopefully this means Sawao's songwriter's block is over.
Pink Floyd
Not to be a dick (Pink Floyd happens to be one of my all-time favorite bands), but off the top of my head, I can name a handful of their albums on which you'd be hard pressed to find a "classic, memorable" song.* Also, I can easily name at least an album or two from Jethro Tull and Rush, both very commercially successful, critically acclaimed, and long-lasting bands, that have no real memorable "hits" off of them either.

Point is, bands that have at least one really memorable song on every album they release are either a) the best of the best (e.g. Queen, Led Zeppelin, the Beatles), b) not very prolific or long-lasting (e.g. the Eagles, Cream, Jimi Hendrix), or a combination of the two. In other words, I wouldn't claim, even in hyperbole, that "all" successful bands have a memorable song on every album they release. The fact that the pillows, who have been writing music pretty much non-stop for the past 20 years, have been able to compose at least one or two memorable songs for (arguably) almost every album is no trivial feat in my book. I consider it to be pretty damn impressive.

* - For the record, I dare you (or anyone) to name a "classic, memorable" song off of Atom Heart Mother, The Final Cut, or Music From the Film More.

I'm wondering if the limited edition is worth getting, as I could do without a DVD of just one or two PV's.

I'd say there's at least one good song apiece on Rush's lesser releases from the eighties and nineties, except maybe for Test For Echo or something.

That was exactly my point: Sheer's claim was that all (good) bands have a memorable song on every album. I can't think of any memorable songs off Test For Echo or Vapor Trails (well, Test For Echo might have one if you consider Resist to be memorable). In other words, these are counterexamples to the claim that every album has at least one memorable song on it.

(For the record, the fact that only one or two of Rush's albums don't have any memorable songs on them is still incredibly impressive, considering that they've been together for nearly 40 years.)

It'd be hard to stand up for Test For Echo and Vapor Trails on the whole but each of them had a few kickass songs on them.

Test for Echo had Test for Echo, Half the World, Totem, and Resist that stood out, or at least that I could recall the melodies for. The rest of the songs on there sounded so similar to each other they might as well have been one track.

Vapor Trails I haven't heard in a while so naturally Ceiling Unlimited, One Little Victory, and Ghost Rider come to mind first. But even with the production problems, I recall there being more worthwhile songs on there.

---

But I wanna talk about Movement. I think the chorus is mighty fine. During the chorus, I love the timing between the lyrics and the lead guitar, they string together to weave a neat melody. I find it to be very catchy.

The verse is excellent, especially the first lines he sings and how buttery smooth they transition to it from the intro. The outro is great too. I can't find any fault in the way anything is played or sung, it's solid all through.

The only gripe I have is that the pre-chorus teases to go longer, but then NOPE, SAWAO BUGS HIS EYES OUT, IT'S CHORUS TIME! Same thing with the solo. It's like they only told half the story in those instances.

The video is just wonderful, as well.

Yeah, the chorus has been growing on me (as I expected it would... I mean, that's the natural order of progression in liking something). And yes, I was surprised the chorus came so fast too... the pre-chorus was seriously begging to go on there. I think that's what GR means when he says "breathing room". Things came out without any prep or break once the song actually got rolling. It was super straightforward. I have a feeling that's what the band wants with this release though.

Introductory riff into first verse = tight

Outro = tight

I still can't get into that solo. It's just... too brief to make an impression at all. I keep thinking of it as an expected explosion of energy that just fades out without getting anything done. We all knew the solo was coming, but I was hoping it'd be more developmental in nature.

Anyways,

Chorus = tight (still waiting for this single so I can hear the lead guitar part more clearly... sounds cool).

A-side sounds solid.

Not sure if this has been said or not, but did anyone notice in the Movement PV (around 2:59 in) something flies and almost hits Shin..but disappears!

I think is a camera. If isn't, I don't know what could be.

He also throws the same thing at about 0:45. Looks like some kind of camera/film covering or something.
