I'm going to throw this in with "Primer Beat," as a song that's entertaining and fun to listen to, but not particularly memorable.

I want to say it's more, because I love the verses and the riff. But the "okay" nature of the chorus and (to me) the guitar solo forces me to agree here. It also seems like the writing and pacing is a little... not complete. You can't have things that obviously stand out as strange and off (in a eh kind of way) in a memorable pillows song.

I think that "entertaining and fun" it's a lot for the pillows right now. I mean, based on their recent (2007-2010) albums, "entertaining and fun" it's the better that they can get. But come on! How many bands do you guys see around that releases a "memorable song" in every single fucking album? Besides, the pillows releases almost a album per year. And since My foot, the pillows had enough "memorable songs". Like My foot, Sayonara Universe, Scarecrow, Sweet Baggy Days, Across the Metropolis, Ladybird Girl, Texan Daily Life. Even in Ooparts they had "memorable songs", for example, Ameagari ni Mita Maboroshi and Beyond the Moon. At least for me these songs are pretty memorable. And just three of them were actually singles.

Um. I'd say just about every pillows single has been pretty memorable for me. Of course, some more than others... Namely, I'd say Tokyo Bambi, Rodeo Star Mate, and maybe Nonfiction are songs that I don't really think much of at all on the grand scheme.

No one said anything about the albums not having anything memorable on them. So I don't know where all of this "not memorable" stuff is coming from. The only thing that was said was said by Sheer, and he said that he didn't think that Movement is a memorable pillows song. And I agreed with that.

Of course, it's fresh. Maybe more time will pass and we'll come to think much more highly of it. That's a distinct possibility for me, personally. I'm still pretty up in the air about it (waiting to hear it in higher quality! :shred: ).

Yeah. Sorry. I got things wrong here :)

Oh, really? Name one. Name one band that have in every album a memorable song, a really good song, a classic. And please, choose a band that, at least, has a good number of albums. :?

As subjective as the term "memorable" is when you start using it to classify songs across entire bands' careers on an album by album basis... In my mind, the pillows are a band that have at least one memorable song on every album. Some less memorable than others, but yes... at least one memorable, great song.

Pied Piper and OOParts have had the least of that amount of material for me, but even they have their moments (certain songs hit me at times, what can I say).

Yes. I don't know why I'm even discussing this. It's all a matter of opinion, after all. I guess that I'm having a really bad day. bleh And my way of relaxing was start to writing a bunch of crap in a forum that I bearly posted anything  But I do still think that a band has their classics. But they don't have it in every album. That's why they are called classics anyways. And by classics, I mean "memorable".

Oh, just off the top of my head, and being particularly conservative (only picking songs that can universally be considered great):

Queen
-Queen: Keep Yourself Alive
-Queen II: Seven Seas of Rhye
-Sheer Heart Attack: Killer Queen; Stone Cold Crazy
-A Night at the Opera: You're My Best Friend; Bohemian Rhapsody
-A Day at the Races: Tie Your Mother Down; Somebody To Love; Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy
-News of the World: We Will Rock You; We Are the Champions
-Jazz: Fat Bottomed Girls; Bicycle Race; Don't Stop Me Now
-The Game: Play the Game; Another One Bites the Dust; Crazy Little Thing Called Love
-Hot Space: Under Pressure
-The Works: Radio Ga Ga; I Want to Break Free; Hammer to Fall
-A Kind of Magic: One Vision; A Kind of Magic; Friends Will Be Friends; Who Wants to Live Forever; Princes of the Universe
-The Miracle: The Miracle; I Want It All; The Invisible Man; Breakthru
-Innuendo: Innuendo; I'm Going Slightly Mad; Headlong; These Are the Days of Our Lives; The Show Must Go On

I could do the same with Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Pink Floyd...

It may be unfair to use such legendary bands, but you did say one band, as if this were a particularly daunting request. It would be twenty times as long, but not very many bands have the longevity of the pillows.
This website: http://loveasiamusic.wordpress.com/2010 ... -movement/ is saying that the other 2 tracks from the single were named: “Split Emotion,” and “Gloomy Night.” Anyone has any idea if that's true or not?
Tower Records lists those tracks too. So I'm betting on true.

New song sounds okay. I like the verse, but the rest of it doesn't really stick with me.

It's really tough for me to think about Queen without laughing over how they were plastered all over the original Highlander film. Great movie but man, Queen takes things dangerously close to the edge.

Uh...that's typically what happens when you compose the soundtrack to a film. Previously, they had composed and performed the soundtrack for Flash Gordon. It wasn't like, say, FLCL, where they just decided to use a bunch of pillows songs.

Very few songs remained completely intact from their album release, most were re-mixed specifically for the series. Obviously, you're still correct, but they didn't just put The Pillows on shuffle and call it a soundtrack.
