Re: New Album 10.14.09-Ooparts
I don't think this album will be a disappointment. Frankly, I like the sound. Sure, Your Order and that strobe one don't really seem to have much going for them, but really, we've only heard the chorus, and if Serious Plan is anything to go by, the chorus doesn't always live up to the rest of the song. Even if they are crap, there's still Primer Beat, Lemon Drops, and Dance With God. Seriously, if that song has the right build-up to that chorus, then it may just be one of their best in a long while. Here's hoping. Also, Beyond The Moon.
We are witnessing the invention of a new genre. What shall we call this strange invention?
Keikaku flamebait.
>Mare: Well, yeah.. I see your point. But I don't know how to explain it, it's just that with some albums(My Foot,PML,Happy Bivouac) you can listen through them smoothly and nice, but with other albums (Wake Upx3,Pied Piper, and IMO Runner's High) you have a bit of a "bumpy" listen, the transition between songs feel rough. But that's just me I hope you understand what I'm trying to say
Nope, don't understand shit, sir. @Shwahn: Don't forget Beyond the Moon.

Re: New Album 10.14.09-Ooparts
This does sound like an unusual batch of songs. Loving some, a little worried about some others... Dance with God - Need more data, sounds ok. Your Order sounds really cool, looking forward to seeing the PV. Melody sounds really tamed... I feel how most of you felt about how Propose turned out with the overpolishing. Lemon Drops sucks, you guys are morons. (bullshit, obviously, great potential here.) Foxes Was that a sax? I'm confused. Please don't suck. Be awesome... Yeah! Be awesome! Beyond the Moon - I don't yet know what to think of the sample. Journey Strobe - Potential here. I like the effect on the lead. Ameagari - sounds more and more like a commercial for saving world hunger or something every time I hear it. It's ok. LIFE SIZE LIFE - sounds a little too goofy. I dunno, guys. It's like they are trying to make a kooky anthem just because they want one on the album. Primer Beat - Take us out, boys! 1, 2, 3, 4... sounds like it will be pleasant. Peaks and valleys. Some wild swings, some standby anthems, some sure-fire favorites.

Re: New Album 10.14.09-Ooparts
So... yup, no idea what I'm expecting here with probably about half of them... For whatever reason I'm loving the back half a lot more than the front, which seems to happen with a lot of pillows albums for me (yeah, this is a very early assumption to make), and feel free to say whatever you want to at me for saying so, but this really feels like the way I usually feel on a runthrough of Please Mr Lostman (and yeah, I certainly don't think that's the best album to compare it to...) Just my fairly useless and random two cents on what we've got. Also, Melody live vs album feels a lot like Like a Lovesong live vs album.

I'm liking the single and Primer beat.
These albums keep getting worse.

Re: New Album 10.14.09-Ooparts
Wow, these last two pages have been... enlightening. Really guys, they're just clips. Sure you can make an early judgement on it, but who's to say there isn't some epic song on here with drastic changes in it, similar to Smile? It's just that out of the three full songs we've gotten out of this era so far, two of them have been awesome. Fighting Pose, no, not that good. But if Sawao can still write a song like Ameagari, there's hope. So I'm going to call right now this album will be better than Pied Piper.

Goshin and Jomei need to have a deathmatch to decide how the album will be.
Sawao's fate is in your hands.

JOMEI used Swords Dance.
JOMEI's attack greatly increased.

Re: New Album 10.14.09-Ooparts
On par with, or below Moon Gold.
It's entirely possible. I hope it will be better than that, though. Moon Gold had... some weird songs, just straight up. Like, can anyone clearly remember what Foreigner sounds like? I think it will rain? Asoko he kaeritai? Dear, my first step? Sure, it's ok if you like them, but they seem so unusual and out of place to me. Penalty Life had some odd moodswings too, but most can agree that amounted to something quite unique. It was aggressively different from track to track. To an extent, I feel roughly the same with Ooparts from the samples. A lot of extraneous oddness on this one, though. From the start, it seems like the album will have a good lick of congruent sense what with the first four tracks... ...Until FOXES, and then it's all bets are off! Crazy growling and unusual instuments! --> POWER BALLAD, OH POWER BALLAD, I'M A POWER BAAAAALLAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD! --> Hi, I'm a pillows song --> FEED THE CHILDREN --> Am I Ritalin 202 yet? --> doop doop doop sho wahhhhhhhhhhhh! Thank you very much, tip your waiters! It's just, wha...wha...huh...wha...um...ok?
...Foreigner... ...I think it will rain...
Two awesome songs you should not go without. Foreigner is straightforward amazing. Ame Ga Futtekita You Ki Ga Suru is just as great, but it's a little more subtle about it. It's humble. Foreigner is just so in-your-face, and Ame Ga Futtekita has that twin guitar thing Sawao tried so hard with in Good Dreams done twice as well.
Maybe a little off the topic at hand, but I gotta defend these songs. Sorry.
I think Life Size Life is odd. It's just-- ah-- mmm. Well, it hasn't clicked, let's say.*
*Obviously, speaking as if the sample is the whole song.
Kaze and I both thought BOAT HOUSE sounded a lot like Patricia, and that that's a very good thing.
I stopped listening when I saw this. Boat house does not sound a lot like Patricia. I'm sorry. I might admit that the intro for both have a similar rhythm but they are completely different. But whatever, its not like my opinion matters, just had to say what I had to say. What do you think? Am I terribly wrong or just being an idiot again?

Re: New Album 10.14.09-Ooparts

Lemon Drops: Best track of the album, hands down. Actually good shit here. Gives me a really Over Amp/Kim Deal feel. This should have been the single, instead of Ameagari.
Damn, Grey beat me to the "best song on dis album" call this time. But yeah, Lemon Drops is our winner. A few others piqued my interest a little bit, but I guess we'll see. I'm not terribly optimistic to say the least.
The moment I saw the track list in my hands at Budokan I knew that Lemon Drops was going to be my favorite song on there. I told Tidus about it when the concert was about to start what Lemon Drops meant. My brother enjoyed the song title he had a good laugh. Now that I heard it, it sounds great. Overall though, it does seem like these songs are a bit too passable like what was said before and yeah, we can't tell what these songs will sound like until we hear good quality and the rest of each song. I'm hoping that this album will be a good one, I'll enjoy it even if its a good or bad album. These songs were most likely rejected songs that couldn't make it to albums from the past, and were now decided to be put on a new album when they have nothing to loose. EDIT* Dance with God- Sounds pretty good, has great potential and could be a good song. I have a feeling the opening and end will be amazing Primer Beat- Is very catchy for some reason, the lead might have some potential Melody- I love the chorus and had a great feeling from it from the live version of the song. Lemon Drops- I thought this song would be my favorite, and it seems like the chorus is very catchy and might need very few listens to become an instant hit, it might be the best song.. I hope. FOXES- I have no idea what the hell Sawao was trying to do here. I agree with GR on this one. All it has going for it is some weird instrument arrangement which might help it become the most interesting pillows songs (instrumentally) Beyond the Moon- I thought this song would become one of my favorites, I like the chorus from the little I've heard from the clip, but I feel it might need the rest of the song (lead, bass and lyrics) to feel complete I like it very much though, it sounds like it might have a great ending! Journey Strobe- Is very interesting. I don't like the chorus so much but it sounds like it will be a very up beat and happy kind of song. Ameagari ni Mita Maboroshi- This song has become one of my new loves I fell in love with this song the moment I heard it. Don't even say that its bad in any way, this song has a great chorus and great lead. LIFE SIZE LIFE- This song doesn't feel quite right, I like the clip towards the end (not the title part but before he repeats Life size life) it might be very catchy. Primer Beat- Might be in battle with FOXES as the worst songs on the album. I don't really like the sound of Primer Beat, sorry.
Best post in a fucking while.
He has great reasoning and evidence to back up his opinion. Something most of us have been lacking for quite a bit. Orochi has now become my favorite poster
