I know the people who care most about Noodles feel that Shakespeare and Metropolis were lacking, and that pretty much everyone wants Junko back. I just think it's weird that you went to the LA show -- knowing that you don't really like the pillows in their current state, and that Noodles recent work is pretty lack-luster. You tryin' to hide something? ITT, Jedi is in love with My Foot and Tokyo Bambi?
Although I went more so for noodles than the pillows, I went to the LA show just to get out of the house. In fact, I originally wasn't even planning on going for noodles because, after seeing them back in October, I knew their set list would be exactly the same and sure enough, it was.

"and he'd go backstage and stick out his flashlight and wave it around. "
Stage guys do that to signal to the Front of House (mixer of the show) to turn the sound up because the band is coming out, he was not doing it to be funny.
People cheered cause they know that means they are ready.
ANYWAYS, did anyone see me? I had a big brown jacket on, and waited in line halfway down the street after it wrapped around the front corner, and I was with my wife who was wearing a striped blue hat.
I stood with a blue fleece about 15 to 20' in front of Jun, not the most exciting place. But that side no one was getting crushed. Guess that makes sense.
The show was amazing, and can I say that I think that venue is awesome? The lighting system was the best ive ever seen, really made for great effects. Perfect standing room sized, and if you got tired or wanted to sit, you could get a still pretty close place to sit stadium style behind the standing crowd, and my wife says "it was a better view".
Both of us enjoyed Noodles, a lot more then either of us expected, they have a tight sound!
The pillows did a great job and it was worth the 6 hour trips. Although at times I couldn't hear either guitars, it still was not bad.
Got a couple of shirts and keychains!
Hope you all enjoyed as much as we did!

I was third in line and got there at 3:00pm
I was in the very front! My spot would had probably been the best place in the venue if if wasn't for the fact that everyone pushed toward Sawao.
This really made it hard to move at all.
Wish they would had played swanky street or ladybird girl but all the songs were good!
Did anyone else notice that people only pushed for ride on shooting star and little busters? (most defiantly FLCL fans)

I just want to say that I saw Fuzz Hill mentioned here and remembered that I'm an admin there and should probably be posting and livening things up there.

Well I would say that more than half of the people there were FLCL fans, so the pushes during the FLCL songs are expected. I noticed the crowd settled down significantly during songs they didn't know such as the new songs, Century Creepers, and others.

This is one of those reasons why I appreciate GR's videos so much...I don't mean to criticize, and I won't go into details, but yeah - new videos, please.

Edit: Although that is kind of cute how they play pillows songs together.
Are you insulting my video?

Read it again and decide for yourself - sheer's not being too difficult here.
I don't see it as an insult.

I just got back, It was almost a 7 hr drive each way . I got there around 3:30-4 and there was already 15-20 people in line. I saw a few people from IM. the show was awesome! I don't think I need to go into detail about how orgasmic manabe was. I was 2 or 3 people back in front of him. when the pillows came on stage everybody pushed forward crushing everyone at the front. then a song or two in sawao, like the genius he, is told everyone to push forward even more. a double whammy of crushing ensued . despite that I still had a good time. the song they played after new animal was the "mister droopy" song. I got pillowsfan05 (I think that's his username) to record the second half of it. after the show I waited around to get my guitar signed, but I ended up leaving at 11:30 because I couldn't wait any longer.
The rule is this: If you have a problem with being crushed/abused, get in the back. It's really confusing how many people are all like, "I'm getting crushed, WTF?" That's half the point (Sawao was right), and the exact reason there were chairs in the back. I'm not directing this at Overburn, but what he said reminded me to point this out.
I agree that being crushed is part of the show but I am complaining of people trying to steal the spot that I earned.
[
It didn't seem like an insult but when most people say "I don't mean to criticize" they are trying to criticize. As you can see I get confused easily.
MOD EDIT: Don't doublepost, please. Love, Mare.

I have a video of the verse of New Animal that came out real well.
I'd like the noodles set list as well.
I think I like them live better than the studio cuts. Grease in particular adds that synthy thing and the live cut lacked that in a good way.

yah overburn, about 15 mins after you left, the pillows came out of the theater from a side entrance. a whole crowd pretty much stalked the group for a couple of blocks until sawao decided to stay back and sign some cds. The guy with the long blonde hair got his cd signed, i got my TYMT signed. Ladybird girl got to talk to Sawao a bit, he was giddy like a school girl.
Overall the concert was an absolute blast. Got some awesome photos of Manabe, a few shots of Jun and none of Shin cause he was too far away. It was hard to get some got action photos of Sawao cause hes always flailing. New animal and mr droopy was sounded pretty good. i think it was new animal that kind of reminded me of go go jupiter for some reason.. Anyway gotta get some sleep to go to the Pillows panel tomorrow.

When I said I was not going to criticize, I was saying that I was not going to analyze your video in particular, but rather that I was going to classify it along with a motley of assortment of other videos of pillows covers that simply do not achieve the same level of quality as GR's. It was not an insult, especially because of the high benchmark that GR has set (I tried to emphasize this point - sorry if I did not properly). You are correct when you say that many people preface criticisms with "I don't mean to criticize," but they usually follow it with criticisms - but I get what you meant.
Aside from that, his playing/ability is only one factor that sets GR at a level which I respect. The quality of the video, the quality of the audio, and the quality of the lighting are very important, and unlike most people, he is able to provide sufficient levels of all three.
Ultimately, my point was this: you haven't made any videos in a while, Grey - let's have another.
I agree that being crushed is part of the show but I am complaining of people trying to steal the spot that I earned.
I understand, but part of earning the spot is enduring being crushed, and holding your ground. "I was there first" is not earning your spot. Also (not necessarily referring to you), leaving your spot means you lose your spot (unless the crowd is kind). It is sometimes annoying how many people seem to think that they can claim a spot, and then go off and come back (and/or bring their friends up). There is one direction, and one direction only, which anyone may freely travel in a standing room: toward the back. It's not just about getting to the show early, which doesn't even necessarily count since everyone always invites their friends to the front of the line.
Anyway, I also understand how you feel, as well. And WTF was up with the pillows ditching everyone? That was totally weak.
