Anyone ever notice how similar the melody is between the intro of Beautiful Picture and Melancholy of a Lesser Hamster/Lesser Hamster in Blue?
Okay, well when I listen to Melancholy of a Lesser Hamster, I always have to listen to Spiky Goose right after it. It's like one is upbeat, and the other is just down... but they totally remind me of one another.
No Self Control and Wake up Frenzy always seemed to be like two part songs to me. Kinda sorta like how Smile starts off slow and progresses...
Something about Bokura no Hare Suisei and Walkin' on the Spiral always makes me listen to them back-to-back. Give it a try.
I'm just going on how songs make me feel, and when I listen to March of the God, it constantly reminds me of that one scene in FLCL when Blues Drive Monster is being played when they fight the big hand-gun monster.
This is kinda loose, but... Kimi to Boku to o-Tsuki Sama and Noboronai Taiyou... Just reminds me of that time of morning when it seems like the sun won't rise. (Yeah, I know. Noboronai Taiyou = The sun that will not rise)
Robotman, Ritalin 202, and Waiting at the Busstop kinda remind me of eachother with that indie punkish sound... Well, in certain parts of the songs.
Instant Music, Crazy Sunshine, and Kim Deal... Just listening to them, they're all pretty up-beat, and the drums are quite similar. Biggest difference is in the tempo. Just get past Crazy Sunshine's and Instant Music's introes. But a lt of the Little Busters stuff is the same.
Well, those're the only things I can think of atm, so go ahead and bash all you want. I know those are some pretty loose connections, but meh, it works for me.

Crazy Sunshine is off Happy Bivouac, and Instant Music is off Runners High.

I'll agree on the intros to Beautiful Picture and Lesser Hamster in Blue. Never noticed that before.

Ack, well if the "a lot" typo didn't start to give away my lack of attention to what I was typing, I'm in trouble. I meant HB's stuff is the same (Kim Deal + Crazy Sunshine.) Plus, how awesome would HB have been -with- instant music?
But man, looking back... my connections SUCK. ('Cept for the Melancholy of a Lesser Hamster and Beautiful Picture. I kinda surprised myself finding that one, actually.)
EDIT:
Oh, did anyone ever notice that No Substance sounds a LOT like Guitar Wolf's Let's Get Hurt? I'm just waiting for Sawao to start screaming at the top of his lungs while the chords progress into that song.

The intro of Good Dreams always reminded me of a happier version Monster C.C.

 Good Dreams (of better albums)
Maybe I'm the 3000th Pillows fan to present this idea (and maybe I'm entirely wrong), but since no one has really mentioned it in this topic, I'll give it a shot: I think Good Dreams is a purposeful rip-off album. I think it was written entirely to recapture the sound of some of their classic songs and reinvent them with the band's more modern pop style.
Right when I first heard "Sono Mirai wa Ima", I knew what was up. The CD art, the vocals, the guitar; it's 100%, undeniably a "redo" of Last Dinosaur. But what about the rest of the album? Some other songs I find similarly obvious connections between, while some are less obvious. Anyway, I'm working on it, so check it out:
Xavier = Rain Brain
Walking on the Spiral = Come Down
Sono Mirai wa Ima = Last Dinosaur
Tenshi Mitai ni Kimi wa Tatetta = Kono Yo no Hate Made
Orange Film Garden = Lonesome Diamond (or Ride on Shooting Star)
Frontiers = Instant Music
Lo-Fi Boy, Fighter Girl = Ritalin 202 (or Freebee Honey)
New Year's Eve = That House
BAD DREAMS = Sariban ni Naritai
GOOD DREAMS = No Self-Control (or Vain Dog)
Rosy Head = Sleepy Head
I think the Pillows are both clever enough and nostalgic enough to try to do this with an album. After all, this was in the year of "Turn Back" and all those other "look how long we've been doing music!" releases.
Tell me what you guys think.

No, not really.
Not that I can notice besides Sono though.

Really? The "na na na na NA!" in Xavier doesn't remind you of the "oh oh oh oh OH!" in Rain Brain? You don't think the belted-out choruses of GOOD DREAMS and No Self-Control are at all similar? The beginning of Rosy Head doesn't sound almost exactly like Sleepy Head to you?
Everybody, try listening to the Good Dreams songs for similarities. It's pretty interesting how they all sound so familiar, whether it was intentional or not.

Not really.
Maybe if you go to the strictest (and stretch it a bit) definition of similarites, yes.
Well... maybe a bit. But not enough to say that they sound "REALLY" alike.

This off topic, but I Before Noodle's cover of Vain Dog (in Rain Drop) came out, I always thought they should've done it. I think Rosy Head and Sleepy Head have similarities, such as the title, and shit.
