I love Sawao to death, he's up there on my all-time favorite artist list [...] but come the fuck on man.
Yeah. That's what I was thinking. I do think Purple Moonlight is a fine song, though. I think it has a nice atmospheric feel to it. Listening to Music Creature, however, was just awful. I think the song definitely has potential to be great. Setting the mushy mass of words aside, good god, his singing is just sort of painful. I do love Sawao but I cringed at that song. Did he listen to himself singing that? Was that the style he wanted? It's pretty rough, but not in a nice-rough way, in my opinion. Oh well. The actual animation of the PVs themselves is enjoyable if nothing else, I think.

Re: Sawao Yamanaka solo album - Discharge - 6/23/2010
Dawn Speech was pretty awesome, I thought. It made me reconsider my initial feelings on the album, and I thought "maybe I will get this..." Then I heard Music Creature and Purple Moonlight. I liked Purple Moonlight, and I think it may grow on me even more, but holy fuck Music Creature actually kind of hurt my ears. Why does he insist on the English songs? Is it more fun for him? Is he trying to connect to a bigger audience? I can forgive his voice overall - he is getting older, but like someone said earlier, trying to sing in English really brings out the worst in his singing. I'm not too fond of some of the vowels coming through his nose even in the Japanese songs lately, but in English, every sound is like this. I remember hearing Another Morning for the first time and thinking "dude, that guy sounds awesome, I should listen to more of their stuff!" Maybe if he had sung the song quieter, or edited it to be so, like Dawn Speech maybe, but I can understand if that wouldn't show the feeling he wanted. I don't know. Maybe I'm being too critical. *Goes to listen again.* Guurr-BAAAAA-AAAAAAAIIII--

Music Creature sounds like a little blah about this and that, it's very short with horrible ass in stickery and my eyeballs itch because this stick up my ass is so far I'm coughing bark. I like to type a lot because it gives the appearance of having something worthwhile to say. Are you still reading? you must have a desire to be abused, that's fine with me though I like to abuse things, this one time I smashed a spider. It was great.
Purple Moonlight was nice I thought at first because of it's mellow melody and slightly disconnected satire and I can and will continue to blow smoke up your ass as long as you like it. If you continue to read I guess you would like to see if I'm trying to say anything valid but if I had anything meaningful to say about a fucking song I dont thing it would take an entire paragraph dont you? I mean you either like it or you dont right? I dont need to write an essay on this stuff. But I guess if you're still reading you think that someone could have a valid point about a song this deep into their paragraph.
overall, I like the tracks. They've got a sorta sweet and sour feel to them. Good for nursing a hangover to.

Oh, Camio. I know that some people can be long-winded in agreeing, it happens.
Also, you used the wrong "its."

edit: i don't think i made it clear in my past posts, but i fucking love Purple Moonlight(aside from the chorus). the Engrish here can be overlooked, but if the lyrics were mainly in Japanese i'd consider it a near perfect song.

I loved Dawn Speech. I thought Purple Moonlight was pretty good and that Music Creature wasn't that bad. I think it's far from painful to listen to. His pronunciation is definitely sub-par, but luckily in Purple Moonlight if you don't watch the video, you can hardly tell he's singing English with the tremolo effect/pronunciation so you can just enjoy it as an instrument. As for Music Creature, the actual music is cool. I don't care much for his singing, but it doesn't hurt my ears to listen to it. I'll be sticking with Dawn Speech, though, thank you, my Sawaolight.

RED CARD. YAMANAKA. I would prefer a vuvuzela to these vocals. The videos are mostly lame. Umm... I feel like we're obligated to tell him how shitty this is. To his face. Because we like him, you know? I'm actually kind of pissed off. Yeah, I'll wait for the rest to turn up. However I don't think the "pleasant, mellow vibe" is going to pail any water from this sinking ship.

Re: Sawao Yamanaka solo album - Discharge - 6/23/2010
I think Purple Moonlight is great song. As for the video, I have to ask everyones opinion on this. The taxi that passes by at 1:25, Does that look like a VW karmann ghia to anybody? The reason I ask is because after the Pomona show, I met Sawao for like 2 minutes and asked him what discharge was going to be like. He said kind of like Beck. Anyways, As I drove off, I remember him looking at my car as I passed by. He was on the sidewalk on my right just like the robot in the video. What do you guys think?

You're proposing that the PV for Purple Moonlight was produced sometime after May 23? I have to say, the resemblance is there, and I guess that little bit could have been added before the release. Could be that he was just looking at your car thinking, "Damn, that guy has a sweet ass ride!" because he saw the resemblance himself. Pretty cool stuff.

Re: Sawao Yamanaka solo album - Discharge - 6/23/2010
I understand the appeal of making non-typically structured anthems like Music Creature, but the song and video, more than anything, just seems lazy. Purple Moonlight is ok. Message is kinda like, "I'm a rebel, but hey, everything I see around me is so special right now, why ruin it? *gets blazed.*"
You should be used to this feeling by now.
I didn't buy Ooparts. Says enough.
