Cesar Chamorro: oh well
Cesar Chamorro: the pillows had a good run
Culen Jensen: Think of The Pillows as a fine tuned F1 car
10:40 PM
Culen Jensen: And that Happy Bivouac was when they hit the wall, smashing into a wall of tires and bursting into flames
Cesar Chamorro: haha
Culen Jensen: And since then it has been a flaming wreck just flipping end over end
Cesar Chamorro: i was just getting to the flame part
Culen Jensen: Thank You, My Twilight was when the car finally came to rest upright
Culen Jensen: And the fire crews had the brief hope that the driver was still alive
Cesar Chamorro: hahaha
Culen Jensen: But then they released Penalty Life and that hope was pretty much dashed
Cesar Chamorro: this is going on IM
Culen Jensen: I love you, man
Cesar Chamorro: :3
Culen Jensen: >;3

Cesar Chamorro: Overburn wrote "oh yeah, the guitar riff is not even close to one life's. strumming may be similar but that's the extent of it."
Cesar Chamorro: JAJAA
Culen Jensen: Um
Culen Jensen: Is he listening to the VOCAL melody? The progression?
Culen Jensen: He doesn't know how to play guitar does he
Cesar Chamorro: i want some of what he's smoking
Culen Jensen: The tempo is the same too. Just because the strumming pattern is different doesn't mean it isn't the same song
Cesar Chamorro: also wrote "hey, Square Clowe doesn't sound too bad."
Culen Jensen: Um yeah I can tell you why man
Culen Jensen: But it may
Culen Jensen: BLOW
Culen Jensen: YOUR
Culen Jensen: MIND

i hate to say it....but i agree with jedi, man. if they called it a one life remix, people would def see the resemblance. even though it fails so much harder. but im sure im not the only one dissapointed by this song and is bracing for the possible(notice i said possible) trainwreck that could be the next pillows album.
we still have the single to hear. if thats good, then we can definitely have something to cheer about. but if it's not.....i won't know what to think about them anymore, except for the fact that they've officially run out of ideas. i dont know about you, but i would absolutely hate to see the pillows release a few more albums with as little to like as my foot. it would be extremely painful to watch.

I like it. way better than anything on PL GD MF, though those keyboard sounds in the Moonlight Mile version remind of the over production I hate so much... I wish they just record the damn live instrumentals

D: D: after further examination I change my vote to the song being a copy of one life. the whole being in a different key kind of threw me off for a minute .

Imo it sounds like One Life at the begining and the end.
I liked when it picked up save for the synthesizer. it didnt remind me of One life in the middle there really. I can see how they would be mistaken in the middle. They have the same kind of mood throughout.
oh and... who is Culen? in all honesty. I mean I didnt think much of the quotes until he said too post it on IM as if his opinion mattered more than other people's. I mean why doesnt he just post it himself. Possibly before my time on these boards.

I like it OK. I really don't understand why in the world people get angry about their new stuff.

This isn't a new low for the Pillows. They've been doing this for years now.

Seriously, do you all have to jump on the fucking bandwagon? I didn't think of One Life at all from hearing it. And reusing chord progressions or part of chord progressions is INFUCKINGAVOIDABLE, especially when you've been making music for how long? 17 years? Yeah. Shut the fuck up, cockbags. I liked it. The lyrics are different from one life, the vocal melody is different from One Life, the lead guitar is different from One Life. "IT SOUNDS JUST LIKE ONE LIFE LOLLOLOL" Shut the fuck up. "I WISH THE PILLOWS WOULD STOP PUTTING OUT SHITTY STUFF" Deal with it; enjoy your opinion. I'm actually looking forward to this single.
btw anybody up for some lyrics? holy shit these ones are easy to hear. just the short version, since it's really clear.
yume no mukou made boku wa tabi wo tsutzukeru tsumori da yo kimi wo tsurete
dareka ga katatta genjitsu to iu na no monogatari ga kotae ja nai ze
mieru darou yubisashite yo kasuka na akari ga
hakanakute mo maboroshi demo mieru darou
matataku hoshi mishiranu yami hanbun dake tsuki ga warau
sabishikunai kanashikunai boku no tame ni kimi ga warau
aa, I was call you scarecrow
yume no mukou made boku wa tabi wo tsutzukeru tsumori darou kimi wo tsurete
EDIT: btw, I actually was pleased with yamanaka's voice in the recording of this song; it's not nearly as nasal as some of the stuff he's done recently.
and thanks, rika, for the mp3 link!

The only time I felt it being similar to "One Life" was how it ended. And yeah, I wish they'd use a real symphony instead of keyboards.
Nevertheless, I really liked the song. I think after hearing SCARECROW and PROPOSE, the pillows could be in the clear from having a repeat of "Penalty Life." (Also the show seems more exciting than what the trailer had made me lead to believe.)

culen wanted me to post this, probably to show how similar they are or whatever.
I personally think that they're not that similar, and feel that putting them side by side like that just shows the differences a bit more than the similarities, but that's me. :/
Pay attention to the vocal melodies and lead guitar parts, see how different they are. However, also pay attention to the similarities of the drumming and the bass.
Judge for yourselves.

doublepost:
translated the short bit we have. i'm mostly sure of the lyrics on this, btw.
Until the other side of the dream, I plan to continue the journey, and bring you along
somebody said, the story called reality is not an answer
you can probably see the dim light I'm pointing at
It may be fleeting, it may be an illusion, but you can probably see it.
this twinkling star, this strange darkness; though only halfway, the moon smiles
it's not lonely, it's not sad; for my sake, you smile
ah, i was call you scarecrow.
Until the other side of the dream, I plan to continue the journey, and bring you along

Wow, perfectly stated. +10000000000000000
I'm really looking forward to it also, it sounds awesome.
BTW, it's hilarious that your feelings towards My Foot are such, seeing as if you go back 5 or so pages, to the original MF topic when it first came out, 95% of you loved it.

i also agree. the song really isn't that bad, and i can't wait until i get the single shipped to me. i'll say that i like Propose more than Scarecrow, but it's still all right even if it does resemble One Life.
oh and another thing, i noticed that the intro of Scarecrow sounds a lot like Weezer's "Love Explosion." but it's from Maladroit so i doubt a lot of people know what i'm talking about. but yea, listen to it and you'll see what i mean

Agreed with Mare. It may seem cool to say how crappy a certain band is on their own fansite, but guys, I'll let you in on something: It's not.
On a side note, I'd like to hear far less fappage of other obscure bands like Number Girl. Yes, I've heard them. They're not bad. I would even say they're good. But they are not even ten percent as good as you guys make them out to be. They have a mediocre female guitarist. OMG girl! No. That doesn't make them so good you have to spend all your time talking about them and not the pillows on a pillows fansite.
Maybe the two songs sound similar because, HOLY FUCK, it's the SAME BAND!
