Post Re: Demos and Outtakes
Not counting Mister Buster I had heard of about 3 songs that they have only played live. But I can't remember their names. :dead: One of them is from the Penalty Life era and might have been called "Mona..." uhh something. Or maybe I'm confusing the title. But I know that there are about 4 tracks that they've only played live besides "future". I also know that they had intention to record "MY TRUE COLORS", the song the pillows wrote for THE COLLECTORS anniversary album: THE ROCK'N'ROLL CULTURE SCHOOL.
Was one of these songs played between My Foot and Wake up!x3? I remember people talking about a new song that wasn't on Wake up!x3 or Ladybird girl.

^Live or in the studio?

But yea, this is the stuff I'mt alking about, like Future and this "Mona" song. There's recordings of them out there, now if only somehow the fans could get ot them, or if a live recording could just somehow surface. I wish I could have an interview with Sawao next time he comes here so I could ask about songs like these.

Yeah it was a live thing, I have a small 26 second sample of it that was recorded at that concert but it's not exactly much to go by (it's good though for what it is).

Yeah, they also covered a Sano Motoharu song called SUGARTIME back in 97ish... I think. :dizzy: If I recall correctly it was a sort of tribute concert to motoharu featuring other Japanese artists. I'll see if I can dig up the full cover or at least the sample that Little buster mentioned. The orignal song is from back in the late 80s or early 90s. (I forget even though Moto is one of my favorite artists.)

I'm not so sure anymore, I got confused with all the songs. Most likely there was a song that never made it back then. I'm going to ask my friend about the name of the songs, I'm sure he remembers them, but they had really cool names.

Anyways, even though I've only heard of about 3 or 4, I'm sure that there are a lot more songs that have never made it in a single or album.

-EDIT-

Also, a Motoharu song called HAPPY MAN was a big influence on the pillows when they wrote TERMINAL HEAVEN'S ROCK. There's a similarity between the two songs at least in vocals in the beginning.

Cool, that'd be awesome if we could get that Sugartime cover. And definitely interested in knowing what those other songs are, and maybe your friend might remember something about them too.
