Re: The Scar Whispers, NO ONE is in PARADISE
every one I've tried to get to listen to the pillows was turned off by the language barrier. my family doesn't like them all too much. my mom asked my why I like them and I just lol'd. my dad doesn't like them either but surprisingly he loves number girl. especially the song tombo the electric bloodred. I even gave him a copy of num heavymetallic.

^That makes your dad a badass. I bought my younger brother Num Heavymetallic, too. He loves Number Girl, the pillows, and several other bands I've gotten him into.
Anyone ever get chastized over the name?
Yes. Whenever I think of the Pillows I don't have a stigma on the name, I just think But when I tell other people, they think it's a dumb name. I usually don't tell people what I'm listening to, because they wouldn't know the band or wouldn't like it, or would attribute some nerdy stereotype on me. I actually know one person at my school who likes them, and I found out by letting her listen to The Third Eye to which she responded "Oh the Pillows" I was shocked.

Re: The Scar Whispers, NO ONE is in PARADISE
Yeah, I feel like that all the time. Especially after I moving alot because I started to feel like some kind of messenger so I stopped trying to let people know about it and just didn't care anymore. A good chunk of my family knows I listen the pillows alot. At first they were annoyed by it and most of them are STILL annoyed by them, but when I was blasting their music on a good stereo; some of them eventually got used to their music coming out from my room. My mom is just used to hearing them all the time and my sister like so many others in my family hate them since she only listens to R&B and hip hop. So the only person I had a good shot appealing them to was my dad. He's open to almost every kind of music but I knew the pillows would be a hard band for him to open up to because of language barrier. It's funny with my dad but not surprising for me because he'll mistake their music with other bands I listen to or what he listens to. I'll be playing Tonight on guitar and he'll ask me if it was the doors. Or if I was listening to Swinger's Night Club he'll think I'm playing one of his salsa cd's. And from there I blasted Living Field or Kool Spice more often to see if I could of appeal to him faster since he' such a latin purcussion freak. and it worked Just recently, he wanted to know what I was listening to while we were driving to the post office. Even though I knew what he was going to expect I handed him my earbuds and he actually listened to Sunday all the way through. He then admitted: "they're a good band".

I've never tried to go up to people and make them listen to the pillows. Several of my friends likes them and I've met other people who like them as well. I've met a person in class and my sister's boyfriend, both of whom listens to the pillows.

So, at the music store I met another pillows fan. He noticed my Buster-kun shirt, and I noticed him playing Hybrid Rainbow. It was really weird.

Re: The Scar Whispers, NO ONE is in PARADISE
Hehe, funny thing. My sister's official position with the pillows is that she does not hate them, but finds it strange that I like them so much because they are a Japanese band. She'll hang out if I play there songs on the iPod, but will usually sing over their songs (which pisses me off, I don't want her singing her damn hip-hop over Nowhere!)... But every once in a while, I'll find her humming a few songs, or trying to sing some pillows song when we're just chilling out. So she's not really a fan, but I think she likes a few of their songs. She hasn't seen FLCL, and isn't into anime. I think her favorites are "Ride on Shooting Star" and "Little Busters"... though I have also seen her singing "She's My Little Sister" and "My Foot".

Re: The Scar Whispers, NO ONE is in PARADISE
I played a few songs for my friends over the weekend (PROM WEEKEND ). They seemed pretty chill with them. Later when they all got drunk I played more for them and they were all "Dude these guys !@#$ing rock." These guys aren't the type that would be into anything Japanese (from what I can tell). I expected them to be like "Japanese WTF? turn that !@#$ off" I was/am pleasantly surprised [off_topic]I'm now facing truancy for cutting school today. My parents said they'd call the school and tell them I'd be out but they didn't [/off_topic]

I don't give a shit if people know what I'm listening to. Whether its Nine Miles or the pillows, I just tell them straight out. I don't feel ashamed I love both of them. -EDIT- 1,000 POSTS.

I guess it's the point of the song though.

That was a gorgeous performance! All sweaty and glistening and young. Oh yeah, but the video cuts out before the songs completely over, so the audience could have gone nuts for all we know.
