Read ALL of them, from the beginning. This should be required reading for JET flunkies.
i might do it someday... maybe... we'll see.
Read them all; forgot which thread this was in. Oddly enough, I still want to partake in the teaching of Jepaneez childrens!
Hah, yeah, I read that a few years ago.
I want to do JET too, but I don't know what I'll be doing then...
I consider that an advantage in my own case. I have absolutely no goddamn clue what the fuck I'm going to do with a BA in Political Science and some little certification in Japanese, so I figure it's a good way to delay the inevitable for another year after that. Plus, it's Japan. (Not forgetting the benefit of the entire thing being an infallible ruse for me to see The Pillows and High and Mighty Color).
Yeah I dunno if anyone mentioned it earlier, but in order to do JET you have to have a bachelors(sp?) degree. It doens't matter in what, but you have to have one.
Also, What's great about the JET program is that when older members of JET leave Japan they sell their stuff and their appartment to another person that's going to Japan to teach english. There's a website that has listings for those, penpals from all over the world and stuff. It's pretty neat.
Oh also, it has (I dunno if anyone has mentioned this either) listing for Japanese people who sublease their house/appartments for house sitting while they're away.
I bring this up because if you time it right (which hardly ever happens but the listings change every day see) you could probably sublet an appartment for a week or so while the pillows are on tour and just stay at someone else's house and probably pay less then booking a hotel.
I've heard, for whatever reason, younger Japanese people like Americans to house/appt sit for them while they're away. Don't count on that being anymore then stupid weeaboo crap, but it's still funny to think if it's true. But if it is true, then count on not paying much at all if you say you're American.
