Yeah I wish I'd had this list before I went. Then, I would have been able to say more than "onegai" and "arigatou".
my school doesn't have a japanese class. self-teaching is harder and slower than a class, but with a dictionary and some japanese media (read: the pillows and some anime in japanese) it can be done!
Self teaching is most definetly harder unless its done subconsciously. [i.e. listening to The Pillows and reading english lyrics at the same time] I learned more Spanish from the "zombies" in Resident Evil 4 than from my 4 years of school, but that could be from lack of interest.

But, yeah, thanks much Terra. These will be much needed come May.

P.S. I guess im concidered new, although I've been lurking through the forum for over a year now. I guess I never had anything worth while to say.

Hello.

P.P.S is there a spell check on this thing, I am very self-concious about my spelling.
How do I say

"I love Nine Miles"

and

"Living Field is my favorite album!"

:D
nine miles ga suki desu.

(mare: suki is used as adjective or noun, it's not a verb- so it doesn't take 'wo')

living field wa, ichiban ki ni iri no ARUBAMU. (living field wa, itchy-bahn key nee ee-ree no AH-ROO-BA-MOO)

Thank you!
I might have to write that down, it could be a while before I get to say it.

unfortunately, i doubt they will. america has had more exposure to japan, so we will most likely be one of the few, or the only, other country they come to.

i guess you'll have to do what we all thought we would have to do: save up for a trip to japan.

I've been taking Japanese for a year... While I'm not very advanced, I do know enough to ask for an autograph, ask to buy someone a drink, beg them to let me eat dinner with them (damn you, flyp :P), however...

When Sawao is right there, in front of you, after so many years of worshipping him... It all just sort of slipped away for me, heh. Luckilly my friend and guide in New York Yujoon remembered enough to tell him that we had been listening to him for six or seven years, and that the Pillows were with us through high school...

I still wish I had been able to buy him a drink, and to just talk longer. Fans swarmed in at that point, however.
