Post LA Show 06/27/2006 Disappointment
All I can say is, wow, what a disappointment.

I must say the Pillows were awesome to see again but too many factors were attributing to the lack fun I had, especially due to a stupid asinine act of one of the “fans”. Unfortunately my batteries died (Brand new batteries I put in just for the show) shortly after the pillows started so my pictures where limited.

The opening bands all sucked with the exception of that Scremo religious band. That drummer I could watch for hours. His smile was so big that I could’nt help but laugh and smile during this whole set of slit your wrists songs.

The sound quality at the Whiskey sucked and the conditions were horrible. The band right before the pillows was so horribly loud that my ears are still ringing from it today.

The pillows came on and Manabe was sporting a new Fender Jagmaster guitar which looks pretty sweet. Sawao has some new stickers on his Fender Cyclone and it looked pretty cool. The band played many good songs but unfortunately the soundman did a piss poor job and Manabes solos just sounded like a high pitch wines.

The highlight was when Sawao said “It is so hot in here… maybe I die soon! maybe! I die.” That was some good stuff. I will be updating this thread with some pictures once I get them off my camera and organized.

The biggest disappointment was I waited 30 minuets or more after the gig to get my Fender Cyclone autographed only to be kicked out and have it announced that they are not going to be signing any autographs. Edit: apparently the venue people were jerks, and that stupid guy was hanging after the show. That really ruined the atmosphere for a lot of people there.

The energy at this show was lacking (most likely due to the jerk that jumped up on stage), the crowd had some piss wholes in it and someone in the middle of the crowed had the worst gas and couldn’t contain his or her flatulence. It was nasty and sweaty and disgusting.

So all in all, I love the Pillows but was disgruntled by their decision to not sign any autographs. The mood was ruined by the jerk that jumped up on stage and messed up an amazing song. The Pillows didn’t play Juliet or Instant Music. . The sound quality at the Whiskey is horrible. The Whiskey is a complete shit-hole venue and I will never go there again.

A few things:

There's already a thread for the LA show, so you could have put the Frustration in [your] blood in that thread.

Manabe's guitar is actually a Squire Jagmaster. It just so happens that Fender uses the same body design on their Tornado guitars (who doesn't make the original Tornado anymore) as well.

Sawao has had that flower (One Life) bridge sticker for a while now. Since about the Nonfiction/Third Eye tours from late last year in Japan.

I don't know if you remember me, but I was the guy who asked you if you went onto Instant Music. Anyway, you should've waited a little longer because that's when the band came out. And they signed my copy of Living Field and I took pictures with them along with my friends. Actually, a bunch of kids got shit autographed and took pictures.

Yeah, I saw you there with your guitar. I guess you didn't realize it, but the reason they said no more autographs is because the guy who ruined ROSS by jumping on the stage SHOWED UP AGAIN. Read the huge LA thread for more info.

If you had stayed around like us, you could have got it signed a few minutes later. That guy just showed up again and messed things up. It wasn't the band just saying "no autographs". I'm surprised you missed it, it was really dramatic.

Well, first and foremost, the pillows are people too. I'm not going to blame them for what happened. If anything at all, blame the venue. That crazy ROSS guy should NOT have been there after the show, apologizing or not. It's bad enough that he was onstage, TWICE~! Totally unacceptable.

Anyway, blame the venue, blame the circumstance, blame the effing retard ROSS guy, but don't blame the pillows. They are the victims in this situation.

Yeah, I see that. :) The Toronado and Jagmaster look very similar. :p I made the correction. I did hang out, but the people at the Whiskey kicked us out, and said we couldnt hang out, so we left.

I was actually wearing an Elliott Smith T-Shirt. :p. Yeah I wanted to have my guitar framed. I still play through my Fender Mustang that I got signed last year. :) And it has aquired a nice My Foot sticker too. hehe.

I was pretty much deaf that night after the band before the Pillows went on. I dont remember anyone asking me about Instant Music. sorry. : /. I really wished I hung out now. I am glad they signed some people stuff though. That makes me feel better.

I think it was more of a venue problem than anything else. I still love the Pillows

It sounds like the circumstances sucked for the show, but you should be happy that you even got to go to one.

I dont know. The guard say that they are closing up and that we cant loiter around outside.

My post wasn’t meant to be directed at the Pillows but rather the circumstances surrounding that horrible venue. I am glad that some people were able to meet and get autographs from the pillows. The one thing I was hoping for was to get a picture of me with the pillows since I didn’t get one last year. Getting my guitar signed would have just been gravy though. If they come out to LA again I would consider seeing them again as long as it is not at the Whiskey. That place just = bad times. I was just venting.

Sorry about the double LA thread post. I wasn’t paying attention to the other LA thread, I will take the time to read that thread as well. I hope the San Fran one goes a little better.

Out of curiosity (It is not a big deal) do any of you know Manabe’s and Sawao’s sexual preference? I didn’t know if Sawao was gay, supported gays, or just liked rainbow shirts. I really liked the shirt though. 

So this is what IM has come to......

I'm pretty sure wearing a rainbow pattern shirt doesn't mean you're gay.

Manabe is married; and I am sure that Sawao and Yoko are a couple.

Umm...Let's try and keep just one thread for the SF show. Don't get all uppity about it; I'm just gonna lock this to keep things a little organized.
