Yeah, if you listen to [i]Nook In The Brain[/i] you can hear how everything is pushed together.

I'll try and demonstrate this. Check out these two songs, Be Wild from [i]Nook[/i] and Rush from [i]Happy Bivouac.[/i] This is not a comparison between the quality of the songs or which one you like more, I just flipped through a few songs on [i]Nook[/i] and picked one. Also it's Youtube so if you really want to do a close comparison, listen to the songs yourself if you have them. Headphones or Speakers are fine but if you're using Speakers make sure you're sitting in the middle.

Listen to how on Be Wild the guitars and the drums both sound like they're right on top of each other and how they're both at [i]exactly the same level.[/i] Now, listen to Rush. The drums appear in the center and the guitars are both to the side, this seperation makes it feel like the music is [i]around[/i] you rather than in [i]front[/i] of you.

It's a symptom of the problem, not the cure. Better engineering would definitely help though.
