I am desperately hoping that I am wrong and they will make [i]some[/i] effort to play the songs right, because there's a few i've always wanted to hear.

I'd feel a bit more comfortable if Manabe was holding an ES-335 or a Strat, but he did use a Les Paul in the Girlfriend video and a few others from the time.

Unfortunately, it looks like we won't be hearing a live version of Something Like a Romance anytime soon. They played the exact same set list for the next two nights of the 2nd Movement tour, which was kind of odd seeing double encores three nights in a row. But hey, definitely not complaining about getting Kool Spice in its entirety live on DVD in the very near future.

Ahaha yeah I think he's always been that way... in almost every photo Shin usually stays pretty casual compared to Sawao and Manabe.
I think its quoted in an interview somewhere... that dressing up for photo shoots was his least favorite thing to do.

Yeah, especially since their first few albums are very, very clearly inspired by them. I'd be utterly amazed if Johnny Marr wasn't a major influence on Manabe's guitar playing. And I always thought that their late 90s albums sounded like what you'd get if The Smiths had stuck together and evolved into a crunchy alt-rock band.
