One of the most ridiculous things ever posted on the internet, ever. Seriously though, there are some great songs on this one. It isn't Kool Spice or Living Field, but it's hella good, IMO. Maybe it's got a few duds. But they're charming duds.
I'm not saying it was a terrible album but it feels very juvenile. The quality is all over the place and the group dosen't seem to know what kind of music they want to make. When Sawao took over they gained focus and it shows.

I agree with that, I guess.
You know what song is a piece of shit, though? Pantomime. Does anyone even like that one?

Pantomime is awesome. I like all of their oldest shit. Moon Gold does have a few snoozers, but overall it has epic moments throughout, imo. They were bursting with energy in the beginning, and didn't have a true focus. I love it.

Shut all your whore-mouths about Moon Gold There's one, maybe two songs that aren't awesome there.
According to the pillows cast book listed in the following Japanese wiki pages I'm going to post here, Ueda also did a bit of more songwriting during their first movement.
For pantomime, Ueda did composition for yume no you na yakusoku wa. For MOON GOLD, both Ueda and Yamanaka did the composition for I Need Somebody, and ame ni utaeba. Ueda composed sayounara daisan wakusei. He also did both the composition and lyrics for asoko e kaeritai. For WHITE INCARNATION, Ueda composed colorful pumpkin fields, paper moon ni koshikakete, kono mama koko de, blue march, and GOOD NIGHT.
Sorry if the first link isn't working I'm on an xp that doesn't support east asian languages (couldn't find the CD).
Holy crap, this is really interesting, thanks for posting this info! I always thought that Sawao basically wrote everything, and Ueda just helped more with the arrangements, kind of like what the band does now, but on a more involved scale. So much for that theory; but wow, Ueda really wrote some good songs. Asoko e Kaeritai is probably one of my favorite songs off Moon Gold. And Sitting on a Paper Moon and Kono Mama Koko De are both truly amazing songs; I can't believe those weren't Sawao's songs. This kind of makes me want to check out his solo work more in depth. At least we know Sawao definitely wrote all of Our Halley's Comet and Tonight.

Thanks much, this is exactly what I'd been wanting to know back when I asked. Grazie!
