Yep, great discussion going on here.
That's from a different thread so i'm not sure why it's relevant here. I know there's no sarcasam font on the internet but I thought it would be pretty obvious from the way it was worded that I was being sarcastic.

That people don't really care about each others' personal opinions. It happened to be your post that fit that sentiment. If things are so cut throat, what's the point of stating you like something (especially if it falls into the minority)? If the response is, "Oh you like the song that sucks. Hm. Ok." OK, so you were being a dick. We all do that here. Alright. Nevermind then.

Calm down, kids. Also, for the guy that liked Sullivan, Halley's Comet, Tonight, and thinks their best works are Kool Spice and Living Field...congratulations, you are a Sawao Yamanaka fan and not much of a Kenji Ueda fan. WI was the last albun that Ueda contributed songs to. I'm going to guess you're hit and miss for Moon Gold as well on which songs you like.

That would be correct, although I like the whole of 90's My Life.

Started when GR called me a hipster for liking "Native World" too much in comparison to pillows material on the whole. Did you get that joke, Revol? I thought it was good for a quick, small laugh. xD

Oh white incarnation ~ That explains the cover now.. You know, looking at their discography... In general, I like how distinctively colorful each album is despite the difference in quality. BTW Moon Gold doesn't get enough love.

Re: Could White Incarnation be any better?
White Incarnation is a great album. There isn't a song on it I dislike. Blue March is kind of meh, as is Kono Mama Koko de, but they're not bad. Everything else is really solid.
Thinking back on it, I actually haven't listened to White Incarnation all that much over the years, at least in comparison to stuff like Living Field or PML. I often get into a kick where I listen to one or two songs off of it with frequency, but I very rarely feel like "OMG I LOVE EVERYTHING WHITE INCARNATION-RELATED".
Perhaps it's because I've never really tried listening to it in one go, but the album feels kind of disjointed to me. It feels more like a greatest hits album in a sense, because all of the songs are great, but they don't flow as seamlessly as I'd like. But maybe I'd feel differently if I really made an effort to listen to it as a whole, rather than track by track.
The only songs I'm not terribly fond of are Blue March and Kono Mama Koko de. Anyone a fan of those? I can't hardly remember what they sound like.

Re: Could White Incarnation be any better?
I think Kono Mama Koko De is a really, really good song. The lead guitar is extremely Manabe, maybe even the epitome of Manabe's style.

Re: Could White Incarnation be any better?
Blue March is just a "fun" type of poppy song, but Kono Mama Koko De is a great downtempo ballad, with fantastic Manabe parts, as Aplaca mentioned.

Re: Could White Incarnation be any better?
Um. Blue March is fucking amazing. I love the verse and the chorus. Kono Mama is superior to Paper Moon, imo. I think it's one of the pillows' best ballads. That solo is fucking perfect.
I think the whole album is great, though it definitely has a sound transformation going on there. Which I think is awesome, it continues the transformation from the end of Moon Gold going into the Special CD and Kool Spice.

Re: Could White Incarnation be any better?
It's funny...I've always gathered that WI was looked highly upon around here, maybe even the best of their early works, but I find myself more at home with Kool Spice and Moon Gold tbh, even more so with Living Field but that's later... Kool Spice is great, but Moon Gold I feel is really under rated, I can listen to that through and through without stop, I Think It'll Rain, Ame ni Utaeba, This is My Fashion, Hello Girl, the list goes on WI is a solid album, but I only have a handfull of tracks that I really love.

Re: Could White Incarnation be any better?
I'm with MyFoot. I personally prefer Moon Gold over White Incarnation. That's not to say I don't think White Incarnation is good or even that I think it could be better. White Incarnation is one of those cases where the album is nothing more than the sum of its parts. I can listen to each song and think, "Dang, this sum good pirrows," but the album as a whole doesn't really have a lot to bring to the table when compared to other albums by the pillows. Again this is just my opinion. It may not make sense to most of you, but that's just because I'm too stupid to properly articulate a point beyond a few vague sentences.

Re: Could White Incarnation be any better?
White Incarnation is still my favorite of all the pre-Lostman pillows albums. There are no weak tracks, the cheesy production is charming, and there's fantastic musicianship all over the place. I like The Pillows' jazzy stuff, but I prefer their earlier jangle pop style (which was perfected on White Incarnation.)
Contra Aplaca, I think it flows better as a whole than Moon Gold or the other early albums. To be honest I don't think Moon Gold is all that great. I love Kimi Ga Iru, Dear My First Step, and Sayonara, but most of the other songs are forgettable for me - and I think it has Manabe's least interesting guitar playing of any Pillows album.
