I thought I saw some wood grain on the Explorer. But I don't see any Epiphones that are in white. D:
I'm damn sure that Manabe is using a Gibson. Gibson does have a circle logo that it uses on dorbos. Well, it's not exactly a circle, but something like it.
I'll check Walkin' on the spiral, cuz there was a close up of him with the guitar. Back from the KS/LF days. :O

Here's the best shot of Bob's headstock I could get. I have no clue what this logo is:

Marley's guitar, from the few photos I could find, look almost the same as Manabe's, but with the Gibson logo. So Bob was either refinished and had the refinisher's logo put on, or it's a Japanese copy or one-off model. Too bad we can't ask him.

It has to be a Gibson. Just one without the logo on it. It could be an Orville by Gibson with a special decal. Besides, look at the headstock shape. If it's not a Gibson or Orville, then we have another LAWSUITLOLOLOL on our hands.

I forgot to mention that the Les Paul Supreme has a circular decal. In essance, it's really a globe.
Also, Gibson's Custom and Historic division has a circular logo.

Lots of Japanese companies have the exact Gibson headstock shape. ESP and Tokai both still use it.
And yes, I see what you mean about the Supreme, but it's clearly not the same design as in the screenshot.
It may very well be a Gibson, but I'm still interested in figuring out what the deal with that logo is. The one in the picture isn't like any I've ever seen before.

Considering that he has had it for a while, it could probably be an ESP. Afterall, their sound was based on Fender ESP's and gave much thanks to them in the cd booklets.
Like I said before, having the Gibson headstock design is grounds for a LAWSUITOLOLOL. True that Tokai and ESP have them. Cuz they are licensed products.

Were the pillows ever endorsed by ESP? Even in recent CD booklets they have that special thanks thing, even though as far as we know they haven't played any ESP guitars since 2000. That would seem to suggest that Bob is an ESP model. In any case, Yoshiaki doesn't play the thing nearly enough. P-90s sound awesome, which Manabe should know.
The Explorer, if it is an Epiphone, is probably just in a color scheme (Arctic White) sold only in Japan. That's pretty normal with Japanese guitars.
I though TEH LAWSUIT@@@ only happened to companies exporting their guitars to the US? I figured that companies could do whatever they want with their headstock designs as long as they were kept out of the US market. I thought Gibson no longer had any official presence in Japan.

Orville is Gibson Japan. Orville happens to be Gibson's first name: Orville Gibson.
I don't see why they can't sue the companies in Japan for the headstock shape. Correct me if I am wrong.

I got the Nine Miles CD! there's a picture of the Bob next to his computer and the label of the headstock says ESP with a circle around it. I will post the scans tomorrow.

You have done well.
Unrelated note: It's worth pointing out that Yoshiaki's amp is actually a pretty rare model. His Orange Overdrive 120 was only made between '95-'96, and they were built by the Matamp company (which the first Oranges in the early 70's essentially were, but with orange-colored tolex.) The amp itself is a reissue of the 70's OR-120 amps, but, I believe, with a master volume not found on the original. In any case, it's a fantastic amp.
And right now, Manabe seems to be using a Gibson or Epiphone Explorer. And I'm not completely willing to believe he's using a cheap Squier Jagmaster until I see some photos. A Jazzmaster or Jaguar seem like the sort of thing he would play, though. Let's get some confirmation on his current guitars.
