Uh...Fender. If you mean the color, it's probably because it was a MIJ and sometimes they make different colors.

No, I meant the pickup configuration. Its 2 slanted single coils, and I haven't seen it anywhere else but your first answer is probably right so thanks.

The humbucker at the bridge has two different covers, one white and one black. Since he has a black pickguard, it's kind of hard to see the black one. Mystery solved.

This topic really needs to be updated. I'll add what information I know.
Between 1994 and 1996 the ES-345 was Manabe's main guitar. I believe this is an ESP and not a Gibson; some ESP guitars have a logo for the series they belong to, and not the brand. For example, the Navigator guitars have a more script style logo. These are VERY, VERY finest guitars, and if Manabe was playing a Navigator, then it was easily the nicest guitar he's ever used in the band. In my opinion, he got his best tones on this thing. Gibson thinlines are great for rock, jazz, whatever, so why he ever stopped using this guitar is a total mystery to me.
Between 1996 and 2000 he mostly used various ESP Stratocasters. His main axe was the Lake Placid Blue Strat, but he also used, mostly in PVs, a blonde/maple strat (Swanky Street), a sunburst strat (One Life), and one or two others I may be forgetting. The Lake Placid Blue Strat shows up in Rush and most live performances from this period.
I don't believe the ROSS Strat is a Fender. Looking closely at this video, the logo is not the block ESP, but from the few close shots it doesn't look like it says Fender. This could quite possibly be a Tokai Strat, since the older models had a logo in the same font as the Fender "Spaghetti" style.
The cream Tele Thinline he used in the early days looks like it has a Strat pickup in the neck; this would account for the various jangly tones he coaxed out of this guitar (Colorful Pumpkin Fields, anyone?) I've always thought this guitar sounded awesome. Why he totally stopped using it is anyone's guess.
He now appears to be using an Explorer; I don't recall which brand it is. That's fine with me; it fits his heavily-overdriven style much better then the nasally single-coil equipped Mustang. Manabe most likely switched to the Mustang over his Strat because he thought it was more comfortrable/ cool looking. If he wants to play something else, that's fine with me; I was getting sick of staring at the same guitar for ages. Personally I think Telecasters and Gibson ES thinlines best fit his style. It would be quite nice to see him go back to these types of guitars.
(on a final note: in the penalty life booklet, manabe is seen with a black tele. any idea which songs he played this on? i would guess I Know You, but any help would be appreciated.)

Some of the information you posted is old news to everyone.
As for the Explorer, it was already discovered, since we the Nonfiction PV, to be an Epiphone Explorer. It seems to be this one.
Btw, Blazing, Sawao's pickguard is brown tortoise shell and not black.

If he brought back that ES and jazzed up the next album after My Foot, I would fly to Japan and have sex with him.

Ooh, nice to know...I did a little research myself about it...I was quite curious and ended up on deciding that it might be a Ibanez DT200.
They look very similar...

In the CARNIVAL PV it looks like Sawao and Pee-chan were using old Hagstrom guitars.

No, the Explorer is definately white, not a korina model. That Ibanez guitar looks ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like Manabe's. Not even close.
Hagstrom? Hmm, I don't know a thing about them. The Carnival guitars looked so bizzare I assumed they were some sort of props/ custom models.
Manabe's Les Paul Junior is NOT a Gibson. Go watch the THR video again. You can CLAERLY see the headstock of the guitar at two or three points, but no Gibson logo. The logo looks closer to Yamaha's than anything else- a circle with some other symbol in it, but I doubt that's actually the brand. My guess is that this guitar is a custom-built replica of Bob Marley's guitar, and not a standard Gibson. He should play that thing on stage more often.
