Re: Gear Talk 2.0
I wonder why he chose to use the MXR Distortion III. I always thought it sounded like shit.

Re: Gear Talk 2.0
While a great deal hasn't changed I figured I'll post the gear (pedals) listed in the Horn Again bandscore. Only posting pedals as instruments/amp setup doesn't change.
Sawao MXR M-133 (Micro Amp) Boss BD-2 Line 6 DM4 Korg Pitchblack Tuner
Manabe Line 6 M-13 Noah's Ark AC/DC-1 (Power Supply) EHX Metal Muff MXR CSP-202 (MXR Custom Comp.) MXR M-133 (MXR Micro Amp) Korg Pitchblack Tuner Sobbat A/B Breaker (Line Selector) Barbarossa Gargoyle (Distortion) MXR M-115 (MXR Distortion III) Boss BD-2
Jun Guyatone AC-105 Boss GEB-7 Tech 21 Sansamp classic EHX Russian Big Muff Pi Korg Pitchblack Tuner Sobbat A/B Breaker (Line Selector)
Any clues as to what that un-marked mystery box is? Next to the red MXR Distortion.
I know this is old and I've said this elsewhere on the forums, but to keep/have it answered here, It's a Barbarossa Gargoyle, the red variant is the Chimaera.
Now I must ask whats the red box next to the Chimaera in this pic?

Could be custom, given the sharpie writing and no apparent text or graphics. Looks a bit like old Maxon pedals.

The layout is correct but they use special enclosures. I've never seen a plain one.

Re: Gear Talk 2.0
We should update this... I've been kind of strat crazy lately and watched all of Manabe's strat playing videos. He had quite a collection, there were like 3 or 4. But even with the new stuff like the DC LP and his signature, we can add.

Re: Gear Talk 2.0
Blazingsage doesn't come here anymore does he? He's the one (I think) is responsible to post updated gear. As for the strats that Manabe played, they're just basically lawsuit copies, so I wouldn't get too crazy about them, but ESP has been well known to make high quality guitars, so you probably would love it. Manabe's first strat I believe was a honey blonde Seymour Duncan strat. The first time he was seen with the strat was during the Tiny Boat recording sessions on the WOTS DVD. Manabe's second strat I believe was a 2 tone sunburst ESP strat. first seen in the Strange Chameleon PV. Manabe's third strat I believe was a lake placid blue ESP strat, first seen in the Swanky Street PV. Manabe's fourth strat I believe was a (metallic blue?) Seymour Duncan strat, first seen in the RUSH PV. A little history on the ESP Ultratone, George Lynch was the guy that designed the guitar. source: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GEORGE-LYNCH-MO ... vi-contenthttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Lyn ... usician%29

Re: Gear Talk 2.0
Yeah....I would love to know his recent set up, but I have no way of finding out, except for a Trial bandscore (I hope they release one soon)... I mean, we could at least update the OP with his custom guitar and his DC LP, etc. Thanks for the info on the strats! I love learning about this stuff, I'm a gear nerd Did he play these exclusively? Like is that what we're hearing in the studio recordings, or are these just for the PVs? When did he first appear with his Mustang?

When did he first appear with his Mustang?
the only Strat that was confirmed to use for recording a pillows song was his Seymour Duncan strat, which was used in the song Swanky Street. This information came from the Best Collection bandscore. Unfortunately I'm not sure if it was the same strat that he used in for the Tiny Boat recording sessions, but if you watch them doing rehearsals for the "Swanky Street" single (you can see it on WOTS DVD), you can see him tuning a honey blonde color strat, so it's definitely plausible. As for the rest of the strats, yeah not much information. I've seen a picture with him playing one of the strats in a recording session, however I can't prove that he used it in that recording session. The Mustang made it's first appearance in the i think i can PV. EDIT: I'm also a gear nerd too, I want know what type of mics, compressors, effects, preamps, eqs, and etc were used in the recording/productions of the pillows songs. the names of the studios that have been used for recording/mixing credited in the booklets aren't enough! EDIT2: the first sentence didn't make sense.

Re: Gear Talk 2.0
Well thanks for all the knowledge! I have the WOTS DVD but I haven't watched it in ages. I should probably give it a run through... Yeah I hear you. That's why when I got my first bandscore when the best collection first came out, I was so excited to see the gear pages! Even though I couldn't read it, the pictures were lovely. I really hope they release one for trial! We can get an updated gear check, among other things.

Re: Gear Talk 2.0
I believe Manabe has had a white DC LP with P90s for a while. Like before or around the time he got his custom. Nice amp though, Sawao must really like those Fender tube amps!
