For a frame of reference, it's been about ten years since Megaman Legends 2. Inafune has expressed his desire to make a third game for a long time but understandably had to put it aside for other projects. It's finally time, and I think it is a great decision to put it on the 3DS.

Talk about the 3DS too. Aside from the high potential launch games, there is some BADASS tech in this thing. 3d screens, more powerful graphics chip, video capture camera, watch movies, mii customization, access web browser while in-game, etc. It also comes packaged with a 2GB SD card. Nifty!

Definitely thinking about buying the 3DS. It's been ages since the last time I played Pokémon (90% of the fun in having a DS, IMO) in a Game Boy or DS, and I think will be the time. As for Megaman, it's included in the 10% of the other must-have DS games. :D

What I'd like for Megaman Legends 3:

[i]Hidden/alternate routes that can affect the story, prizes or change how the boss fights will go.[/i]

Example A: Upcoming boss has a superweapon that is difficult to dodge. Finding "hidden route A" could lead to a mechanism or event that disables that weapon, which in turn will give you an advantage when you reach the boss. Perhaps instead you find a mechanism that changes the battlefield in a way that works to your advantage (think additional platforms or environmental changes). You have extra incentive to explore the dungeon more thoroughly on your first visits.

Example B: How about a speculative new gameplay element? I'll call this the "Rival Digger Race". Let's say someone (friendly or possibly not) is racing you to the treasure. The treasure room has a trap. If you take the normal route, you reach the treasure room first but fall into a trap. For this situation you would be tasked with escaping the trap yourself or being freed by your rival. After dealing with the trap, and since you both arrive at the treasure together, you and your rival agree to split the treasure.

If you find "hidden path A" in your exploring of the dungeon, you can disarm the trap entirely. Or possibly, exploring "hidden path A" could act as a time lapse trigger; once you arrive at the treasure room, you find that your rival has fallen into the trap. This leads to some choices; Rescue first and split the treasure? Take all of the treasure first and then rescue? Take the treasure and leave your rival in the trap?

That gameplay idea could be primarily for determining how much money you get for completing a dig, with a secondary function of changing dialogue or influencing positive or negative changes to how the world views you. He saves you, agree to 60/40 split favoring him. You save him, negotiate 60/40 you. Take 100% and save him after, how will he and others feel about you? Take it all and leave him trapped, will there be reprecussions? Would your rival do the same to you if you took the normal route? There could be a good reason to leave them trapped which could affect the story in some way or affect how you are treated by others. Lots of variables to play with. These variables would not need to affect the game so much as to completely reshape it, but to act as a way to affect item pricing and extra valuables/obtainables.

And also, interconnected dig sites underneath towns. Like the first game, but more of them and more reasons to travel through them as opposed to traveling through the overworld. OH NOES, THE BAD GUYS ARE PATROLLING THE STREETS! Quick, let's take this tunnel, it leads through the sewers and out of town. You get the idea.

More "tool" functions that can be built for the support arm. We already have a vaccum for collecting shards, a hose for spraying water, and a drill for clearing rubble/destroying weak walls. How about a grapple beam/lasso? EMP device for scrambling electronic devices? How about a radio? You could have that be a clever way to incorporate a bgm sampling menu. Wouldn't that be funny to walk around underground while listening to a variety of music through a hokey radio device? Maybe you could put it in the helmet or something, but regardless of where it goes on the body, that would be a neat optional equip to goof around with. Perhaps even the radio tool could access your music through the SD card!!! :whoa:

Ok, I'm shooting from the hip here, so if I miss a fact here or there, forgive me. But I'm pretty upset with the way they did this.

What's really frustrating is this idea that the community "didn't meet their expectations". From what I've read on twitter and from press releases and such, it sounds like they wanted WAAAAAAAAAY too much from us. They did this whole experiment with the website devroom so everyone could share their ideas, and it brought in a strong number of hard working and creative fans to draw up characters and enemy designs and so on. But that wasn't enough?

From the comments I've read, it sounds as if they had this fuck-huge traffic expectation of people that just isn't realistic for the fandom of this particular series. They deemed the fans in the devrooms as "passionate" and "valued the work put in", but ultimately thought they were too few. Despite what, being around 100,000? Not enough? The goal achievement for them that gets the game greenlit is some sudden explosive interest from non-MML Capcom fans? Seriously? Fucking Street Fighter 20: Hotdog Vendor Edition players are supposed to come flying in the doors going "HERP I'M HERE TO HELP, FELLAS, LET'S WORK ON WHAT COLOR THE NPC'S ASS HAIRS WILL BE! DLC DUNGEONS AND WEAPONS! DLC SKINS!"

It's shameful to give us this "opportunity" when the alterior motive is to see if the MML fans can lay the foundation for a game-of-the-year experience they think will sell MIRRIONS AND MIRRIONS OF UNITS NO EXCEPTIONS! THIS MUST BE LANDMARK TITLE OR WE PULL PLUG! It's like they wanted the fans to pull a rabbit out of a hat for them. Like, copying from our test! THEY WANTED US TO MAKE THE GAME FOR THEM.

Fuck you, Capcom. We understood that it wasn't greenlit but we had every reason to think that everything was going GREAT, that it would come to be. They gave us Mega Man 9, and 10, and they were good! I understand that the game needs to make profit! But you gone and tugged on everyone's heartstrings this time. This all or nothing bullshit is completely out of control. "This isn't the right game for a new Megaman" you say. What would be? All this hype and clamour and excitement from series fans and it's pissed away because upper managment lost it's nerve. It may be so that Capcom secretly doesn't want to make any more Megaman games. THE NEW DIRECTION... UNFINISHED TOURNEY FIGHTERS AND DLC HEAVY SINGLE PLAYER GAMES.

Good luck getting that new Devil May Cry game to 5 million sold. Too bad our space shuttles aren't going up any more because we can't bring your fucking heads back down from space.

In all honesty. It's disappointing what they've been doing to megaman this past few years. First megaman generations gets cancelled "which sounded KINDA cool" Now this? He's also not gonna how up in the new MvC 3 update. What the hell? I remember those megaman commercials that would talk about 5 different megaman games. Good times :happy: :happy: :happy: :happy:
