Students get it for 30 bucks right now, either Home or Professional editions (it's a digital thing, you can get an actual install disc for 6 bucks or something as well, which I foolishly didn't notice until it was too late). Shit looks great, and is running great for me so far. The only real test that lies ahead is seeing how well gaming does. |

That's a sweet deal, I'd love to get Windows 7 on disk. I've been using Windows 7 on my school computer since September and I haven't had any problems with it yet. It's run every game I've played on it without any problems, though I haven't played many games on it. Diablo II, DosBox (for TES II: Daggerfall) and Cave Story. I've downloaded CS:S and Team Fortress 2 but I haven't been able to play them yet. |

There was a Windows 7 conference yesterday at my college, when someone asked how multitasking has improved, the guy opened Windows Media Player and IE8 at the same time. I was dazzled. But srsly though, I want this OS, looked sweet |

Ugh, I hate IE8. The first thing I installed was Firefox and Thunderbird. I'm almost done installing Left 4 Dead, so I'll soon take this puppy for a spin to see if Windows 7 has the magic to fix my game problem, or if it's something physically wrong with my computer, lol. |
Why haven't you been able to play them yet? ![]() I should really re-read what I write to make sure that everything makes sense before posting ![]() I haven't tried to play them yet, I only just downloaded them. I have been busy with projects and haven't had the time. I'm sure they will work just fine. |

Do you get a full install, or is it just an upgrade for those who have Vista? |

I got Win7 Ultimate X64 bit edition running on my gaming laptop, and 32 bit running on my dad's laptop. I haven't installed it on the desktop yet since I need to borrow a hard drive and back my stuff up, but it's running like a dream. It's probably the fastest operating system I've used, besides maybe Ubuntu. I'm really impressed with this, after disliking Vista and sticking with XP for the past few years. |
I looked into that. Do you get a full install, or is it just an upgrade for those who have Vista?
After taking a quick look at the promo site's FAQ (which has black text on a black background…wtf), I'm pretty sure it's a full install. Anyways, I installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on my laptop about a month ago. It works like a charm—everything is a lot smoother and more responsive, the interface is a lot clearer and more intuitive (especially the new taskbar), and I've had no compatibility issues so far. One cool little change from Vista is that User Account Control (the "You need administrator permissions to do this" stuff) doesn't give you two redundant confirmation dialogs anymore—it always just asks you once, and that's that. The only issues I had were some minor driver issues here and there, but that's probably because I have an older version of Boot Camp that wasn't properly updated for Windows 7. |

Demo party for Windows 7 on campus tomorrow (today) at 4:30 PM. Free pizza, soda and chips! Yay dinner. ![]() In that "brye leaving" thread that made reference to the animenation guy and how his voice sounds... I overheard that a person I've known all through middle and high school is going to be presenting. Believe me, he takes the cake in the unfortunate voice department. I feel like... I want to record it? ![]() ehhh you know what that seems kinda assholish, nevermind. I assume it may reap some nuggets but it seems a bit in bad taste. ![]() |

I hate it when free soda means free soda in a small-ass Dixie cup. I also hate free pizza, because I am always faced with the choice: Do I forego dinner, and hope I can get enough pizza, or do I eat dinner, expecting only a slice or two. And it's always plain. |

Some places make a really tasty plain cheese pizza though, so there's another important variable: where are they getting the pizza from? |

I think it will be Pizza Hut and I'm leaving in a few minutes. Mr. Burns is cool and got several pizzas for a game party I went to and there were only roughly ten-fifteen people, I'm not sure how many pizzas they'll get for this one. I carpooled to Cedar Point with Mr. Burns last year, we played Little Busters in the car on the way down. He thought it was great. ![]() |
