Yeah, I was just asking.
And it's not really old. It was only announced this morning.

What's there to smile about? That game should've been released ages ago.
Yeah, and this name is really terrible.

An interesting article in response/semi-defense for the name "Wii""
http://blog.wired.com/games/index.blog?entry_id=1467976
Personally, I think it's a pretty terrible name. I don't wanna say "Hey, let's go over to your place, cause you have the Wii. Dude, did you see the new colors for the Wii? Gamestop just got a new shipments of Wiis in! Oh man, I waited in line for 5 hours to get my Wii."
It's embarassing to say "Wii", when you don't mean "we" in a part of a sentence.
However...If you momentarily forget about "Wii", and think of the past...
"Game Boy": That doesn't even remotely sound like a system I'd want to play. Sounds like a little kids' toy.
"Playstation": Again, sounds sorta Play-Skool. A professional journalist or website writer writing an article about something called a "Play Station"? It implies something basic and childish.
"Xbox": Not terrible, but still. It "X" + "Box". A Box.
Result: All hugely successful - people never even think of the name anymore, because its so common to use.
The opposite end, the "cool" names:
"Sega Dreamcast": I thought it was great, but it just had terrible timing. It failed hard.
"Atari Lynx": Terrible handheld that sucked down batteries.
And remember what people thought about the DS when it was first announced? The "internet community" was pretty ticked off and confused. They thought it'd be a failure, but it's a tremendous success now despite how unusual the idea is.
So yeah. Bad name now, but it's distinct and I think the hate will probably blow over once we get used to it. The specs and concept for the system hasn't changed. That's all that really matters. I guess we just have to wait it out to see how the system plays, then decide if its worth a purchase.

If it's success then the name won't matter that much. For me wii sounds like a gadget/toy name, something I wouldn't like the name to sound like when the gameplay sort of already gives a gimmick idea.

Eh, I don't care. It's not bad. It's cheesy, and yeah, "I'm playing my Wii" just doesn't sound right, but it's not that bad.
Anyway, I just want to play Super Smash Bros. online and whatever other awesome games come out. As long as it's fun to play, I don't care.

It's still better than PS2 and XBOX.

I like it. Revolution just sounds too cocky.
A funny observation, the '06 console wars have one thing in common. The sound of the letter "E".
E3: The unveiling of the Wii, the PS3, and the X-Box 360. ZOMG!
That silly vowel...
