I found the new Mario Kart to be merely "decent." They added some cool things, but fucked up a lot of stuff too.

All you need to know is that it's Mario Kart on the Wii.

Seriously guys...it's just Mario Kart. If that phrase still gets you really pumped, then by all means pick it up.

I didn't like... no, I hated most of the tracks in Double Dash (except for Baby Park and Daisy's Cruise <3). The whole time I was playing, I was thinking about how much I missed the overwhelmingly superior N64 tracks. Slogging through the majority of those lame tracks, I never once stopped to think about Time Trials, something I loved to do in the 64 game.

I haven't checked out much about this game, I think I read it has a lot of courses. I hope they don't suck. It looks cool with the bikes and the wheel and all, so it can't be worse than Double Dash.

I like MK Wii well enough so far. It doesn't come close to MK DS, but I think I like it about as much as Double Dash, which I enjoyed.

It sucks that the four-player split screen on the Wii makes the game look worse than the 4-player split screen for DD on the Gamecube. It looks okay in single player, a liiiitle better than Double Dash (it's pretty much DD with bloom effects), but in multiplayer the graphics really go to shit. I hope people start hating Nintendo soon because I'm sick of this "we don't care about the mainstream gamer anymore nor do we care about graphics" crap.

The wheel sucks. The most it was good for was "driving" myself out of Best Buy at midnight past the line. I can't get past the lack of a dead zone for a racing game, and the trigger being on the left side makes NO sense, though my two left-handed friends were happy.

The online mode is actually great, the first time online multiplayer hasn't entirely sucked for the Wii.

And GTA4 is, well, GTA4. People already know it's amazing so it hardly warrants any discussion. I do have fun with the Euphoria engine, though, bumping people over with a car, watching them get back up, bumping them over again. I had one person grab on to the door of his car as I stole it, I gunned it and slammed his ass into an oncoming garbage truck. It was one of the most satisfying moments I've ever had with a video game.

DUDE! My friend bought it yesterday, and I was watching him play it. I generally dislike GTA4, but the exact same thing happened to him, and it was funny as hell.

One thing I really do like about GTA4 is that the dialogue is seriously one of the most realistic ones I've heard in a game ever. People scream, "Shit!" and try to jump out of the way in the car. Being able to be drunk and stumbling around is hilarious as hell, and what's most impressive is that the decisions you make in the game ACTUALLY affect shit. It's like Fable, but in modern times and a lot more badass. I would totally play GTA4, and I really don't care for the others.

Seriously you guys, even if you disliked the others, watch someone play it from the beginning.

P.S. I think it's funny, because it seems like Rockstar is really trying to piss the conservative parents off. The characters even say fuck in the game, surprisingly.

That game looks wholly unimpressive.

That tech demo video is depressing. I don't know what the hell Nintendo was thinking when they made the Wii a technological dinosaur. Maybe they somehow thought the HD shift wouldn't affect gaming this generation (and man were they wrong).

That's the thing, though, I think MK Wii might be disappointing to those who have followed the series. It's a repackaged Double Dash, the only addition is online and lots of bloom effects. The entire presentation and look of the game is strikingly sterile compared to the other MK games, too.

On the one hand it's not a horrible thing since I quite enjoyed Double Dash, but I'm getting REALLY sick of Nintendo repackaging the same shit over and over and over and never doing anything remotely new, innovative, or something that at least puts a spin on the established franchises. It's gotten especially bad during the Wii years.

I mean, it's still fun, but it's really disappointing to me because it's nothing new. The online is probably the best so far on Wii, though.

Edit: Man, my cameraphone rocks

Don't IGN's screenshots typically look all scrunched and pixely, though? (Or am I not navigating the site correctly?) It looks good to me when I use my imagination. I'm happy for Conduit, I hope it turns out well. It's not like I have/will have an HDTV anytime soon anyways, but all attempts to use the Wii graphic hardware better is always a very good thing.

:)

The game doesn't look bad, it just looks like a PS2 game (honestly there are far more impressive-looking shooters for PS2). I was hoping by this far into the Wii's life they would have found ways to program more specifically for the system and bring out that supposedly Xbox(1)-level of power... but it's looking like the oomph really just isn't there.

All the Wii does graphically is gamecube-level stuff, just at a higher "crisper" resolution, and that bums me out.

Wii Fit looks to be neat, though.

Mario Galaxy is a great game, and while it isn't much different than the other 3d Mario games, the badass art style really makes up for it. My main gripe with Galaxy is the difficulty, it's easier than freaking Wind Waker. It's still fun, but after a while I stopped to care about it since there was no real reward for going through and beating levels when they didn't present a challenge.

This kinds of plays right into my annoyance with Nintendo's current "thing" - abandoning the mainstream gamer in favor of the elusive casual gamer, making games that are supposed to appeal to the mainstream such as Galaxy and dumbing them down challenge-wise so that Grandma can play and have fun, too.

I did have a lot of fun with Galaxy, I just grew tired of it faster than I wish I had.

Also, I find myself wanting Wii Fit. :suspicious:

I was going to buy a Nintendo wii. With Super Smash brother Brawl. But they were all sold out. :dizzy: So i bought a ps3 :P The wii atleast has more good fun games compared to the ps3. Graphics shouldn't be that big of a problem as long as the game is fun.
