So, I got my computer repaired by somebody and it came back with a "Limited Connection". Therefore, I can't access my Yahoo mail or sign in at last.fm. Does anybody know how I can change this "Limited Connection"?

Stupid answer... but have you gone in and chose which internet connection you're using through the control panel/whatever program you normally use?

And/or are you using a firewall that's restricting you access to certain webpages?

Yeah, I've done that. I think the latter may be the problem. But, I looked at the Firewall settings, and there's nothing there about it. I REALLY need to check my mail.

Edit: I'm running a patch that might hopefully fix this problem.

Edit 2: It didn't.

I'm going to be honest - your post is the equivalent of "my internet doesn't work, what do I do?"

Tell us, in detail, everything that has happened between the internet working and the internet not working, and tell us what works and what doesn't.

Well, I haven't had my computer until a few days ago. It was being repaired. When I got it back, I had a message pop-up that said "Limited Connection". I don't get this message anymore, but whenever I try signing onto a secure sight it doesn't connect. I don't know WTF is happening.

It could be your browser's security settings are set up to high. Have you checked that?

Yes, sir. I've forgot to mention that I also tried connecting to my Yahoo! Mail on every browser that I know of, Firefox, IE, AOL and Opera.

I don't know, I really can't tell you what's up without having experienced what it is you're talking about. I dunno, go to properties or device settings and screw around with that stuff and try your luck. V :( V

Why did you have your computer repaired? What did the repair entail? How do you connect to the internet? What works on the internet? What does not (aside from Yahoo! Mail)?

(Lol @ my laziness) Well, the power supply shutdown. Everything was fine except said problem, (except, the repairman said he had made it "faster" somehow), I don't know how, that's all my mom said he said. I connect using LAN. Everything else other than secure sights works, like forums, YouTube, etc... These secure sights include, my Yahoo Mail, checkouts at says for example, Amazon and logins.

Try these, for starters - although it may not help since it isn't a browser-specific problem.

http://www.duxcw.com/faq/win/xp/secure.htm
http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/troub-10.html

Or try disabling your firewall, for diagnosis purposes. Disable is and then try logging into Yahoo! Mail.

Well, have you tried plugging in the LAN cable into another port? Also, have you already tried to repair the current Local Area Connection? Also, have you tried to reset your modem? Check those out if you haven't.
