That's right, I said it. From day one, that piece of shit has been giving me grief. Sure, it looks nicer and blah blah blah. Whatever. Here's my problems with iTunes. It takes up a HUGE amount of my processor. Why? How much fucking memory does it take to play music files? It shouldn't take that much! Fuck you, Apple. It keeps having random errors, such as refusing to open songs. I try to open the song with iTunes, but iTunes does NOTHING. It doens't even give me an error message, just ignores me and rapes my processor. It has deleted its own library on me several times. I thought I must have done something wrong, but for whatever reason, today, for the third time in two months, iTunes has blanked its memory. And you can't just search a folder and add all the songs to your library like you can in any other media player, or, if you can, I haven't figured out how. You have to either open each song ONE BY ONE, or have iTunes COPY them into the iTunes folder. Unless somebody can help me figure out why iTunes is shitting itself all the time, I'm done with it. And that would make me sad, because I have several really good albums (thanks, Jedi) that are in m4a. Help, plox? |

adding entire folder 99% chance this is actually 100% unrelated to your post. ![]() Anyway, it's obvious Itunes is only for uploading on your Ipod |

DISREGARD THAT, I SUCK COCKS. Well, at least with the adding folders. I have no fucking clue how I missed that. However, the processor rape and self-destructive tendencies remain. Maybe I got a depressed version? |

![]() and if you're a osx user you don't have too many other choices... quicktime is pretty evil... a friend of mine uses vlc media player for everything because itunes is such crap. |

The only reason I use iTunes is because it perfectly complements my iPod. However, I have not had any such difficulties with it. But I know that if iTunes blanked its memory on me, I wouldn't add 10,000 songs back to my library. I'd just switch my iPod to manual before it synchs and use WinAmp or something. Also, I don't think I have to say this, but I'd be capitally pissed and swear off iTunes. Its refusal to open songs, however, may have something to do with a corruption in the song file. |

I don't have an iPod, so I don't have to worry about sync-ing wiping an mp3 player's memory. And the songs work just fine in every other media player i've used (wmp, winamp, real). It's just a few rather unimportant songs, so it's not a huge deal, but all in all iTunes has been pissing me off. ![]() |

I've never had any problems with iTunes. Then again, I mainly use a Mac. One great thing about iTunes is that ability to just drag a folder into the window, and it immediate being copied into your Library and opening in iTunes. It's nice, and too bad the coding isn't a bit better for the Windows version. |

iTunes raped my music folder too. It scattered all of my various artists albums. It also made lots of duplicate folders for each of the artists that were on those various artist albums. I only use iTunes for my iPod shuffle which replaced my mp3 cd player. |

since you don't have an iPod, try disabling the iPod service (for synching or whatever iirc) and any other services you don't need. start -> control panel -> administrative tools -> services select anything iTunes/iPod releated- right-click, properties, set startup type to disabled. barring that, i would uninstall and reinstall the latest version. there may be bugs that have been fixed. |

I've got the latest version. I disabled that, I'll see if it helps. |
a friend of mine uses vlc media player for everything because itunes is such crap.
Your friend must either have a lot of OGG files or is running a 300Mhz. G3 machine. I can't fathom any other reasons why you'd want to use VLC instead of iTunes for music on a Mac. ![]() |

firstly, vlc plays most every music format... and i would doubt he has a single file in .ogg on his computer. he bought one of those 12" ibooks about... 9 months ago? so it's not a total piece of crap. then again, he was against closing applications he wasn't using, so itunes' memory hogging may have hurt him more than the average user. *shrugs* |

I use iTunes on my Mac and have zero problems whatsoever. Back before iTunes for Windows (I've only had my iBook since last April), I used WinAmp, and hated it. I hate the way it looks, I hate how you have to scroll through nine million songs to get to one artist, or add stuff from a folder to the program, then take it off the playlist to make room for something else. I should point out that I'm not a rabid Apple fan at all, but I have no problems with iTunes. |

iTunes on Windows is a horrible piece of software. It corrupted my iPod while trying to perform a firmware update. On the Mac, I don't mind it so much, but I don't actually own a Mac these days. |
