well, what kind of mp3 player was it?

i'm guessing that it's one of those that shows up as a hard drive. the bubble that you clicked no to was the install this hardware bubble, right? your problem is that this bubble doesn't pop anymore and the mp3 player doesn't show up as a device, right?

if this is the case then you'll have to go into control panell -> system -> (some tab i forgot) -> device manager and scroll down to stuff that is not installed properly, right click, and tell it to install again. (do all this with the device plugged in.)

if this fails, then ask someone else to doublecheck... maybe you're missing some drivers? could be a lot of things... gl hf get back to us with mor einformation if the problem persists. if you can't follow what i just said, bug someone who knows their way around windows and tell them you screwed some stuff up in your device manager and you need it fixed. :D

actually... edit it could also be installing just find but you're not checking my computer for the hard drive? plug it in and see if you hav an extra hard drive first...

Reconnect the mp3 player? I hope you at least tried this.

Reboot your computer? This fixes 99% of all problems, but most people overlook it for God-knows-why.

Manually install the program if you can find it on a CD or the internet? It's worth a shot. Unless it's not a program.

Call customer service? Unless you have some no-name player that wouldn't have customer service.

Sell your mp3 player and get an iPod? Actually, skip everything else I said and do this.

I've had over 10 MP3 players in my life (Which isn't really that important right now), and so far, the iPod has been the most reliable.

- It doesn't randomly change settings.
- The Playlist is just gorgeous
- Backlight FTW
- Clickwheel FTW
- The Headphones last pretty long
- Cheap. $200 for 4GB, compared to $100 for 256MB.
- Light, very aerodynamic.
- Impresses teh laydees.

There you have it. The 10, er, 8 best reasons to get an iPod.

A good reason to get an iPod, just like many other technologies, is simply because everyone else has an iPod. This has so many advantages it's not even funny.

1) iPods evolve faster in technology and convenience due to having several times the customer feedback of any other mp3 player.

2) If you have a problem with your iPod, odds are you know somebody who can either fix it, or tell you how to fix it.

3) You are familiar with how your friends' iPods work, and you can all be comfortable while using each others'.

4) Third-party merchandise galore.

I'm sure there are several other reasons why iPod owning the vast majority of the mp3 player market share is an advantage, but I'll leave it at this.

I have a 60GB and it has not yet failed me once.

Edit: iPods are not cheap, but they are well worth what they cost. Compared to other mp3 players, they may even have a greater cost-to-effectiveness ratio. Also, smaller iPods are not much cheaper than larger ones, due to the convenience of smaller technology.

Edit 2: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product. ... id=5273429

Five times the storage, less than three times the price of that Phillips. A 60 gig is $400, ten times the capacity at less than four times the price.
