I have been waiting for this game literally for 10 years. Finally, the sequel to Earthbound is actually coming out. They just announced its official release-date to be April 20 (2006 thank god). The great thing about it is that the game is for the GBA, so it will most likely have the old-school graphics that I loved so very much.

Hopefully most of you played the original one (I know Josher has at least); if you haven't, I highly suggest you give it a try.

I'll send a ROM to whoever wants to try it. It's a definate rewarding game to finish at the end.

Please Nintendo... do the right thing.

i got to like, th graveyard, then i gave up cause it got hard. But it was a really cool game.

i got stuck somewhere, and then my sister lost the game. i haven't completely got over that.

i hear they're going to release the original and the snes one onto the gba together possibly.

Actually, I think was a year or so ago that they released Mother/Mother 2 (Earthbound 0/Earthbound) on the GBA. Everyone was so very excited to see a re-release of Earthbound, but then Nintendo decided not to release it outside of Japan. Hopefully they will release both Mother 3 and the Mother1+2 compilation in America simultaneously.

Dudes, Earthbound 0 and Earthbound are both fucking win. Earthbound was like the coolest game ever, and Earthbound 0 was just pure nineties nostalgia.

Besides, the menus in both of the games were actually fine. I normally hate NES RPG's because their menu systems suck. But Earthbound 0, I would say, I enjoyed the most out of any NES RPG, even though I haven't beaten it. (I got way past Magicant, I think I like just got to Spookane... Anyway that game was WAAAAY the hell advanced for its time.) You could probably find someone who transed the GBA version of Mother if you looked hard enough... But ROMs are illegal, yo, so don't do it! /semi-sarcasm.

Has mother 3 hit the U.S. yet? I haven't heard anything about it, but to be fair I haven't really been up-to-date on new releases. I'll go google searching right now.

I haven't been around Starmen.net recently, but I hardly doubt Nintendo is making any effort to bring the game here because it was a commercial failiure in the first place.

In the case that anybody cares, here is some excellent news: Mother 3 is being translated by Tomato and the crew at Starmen.net . This means there will be a high quality ROM hack that makes Mother 3/Earthbound 2 incredibly playable for a Japanese game
