Re: what are you reading?
Finally sticking my nose into Ender's Game. Getting stolen books into iBooks has surprisingly zero obstacles.
Well, Memory of Light is finally out (last Wheel of Time book). I think I might just skip to that one. My attention was lost somewhere around book 7 or 8.
Quite a bit happens in the ensuing books. But that's what I'm reading at the moment. A third of the way through so far and it's been pretty action-packed.

Re: what are you reading?
I feel like I should at least try The Wheel of Time out. The first book came out on my birthday, so that's pretty awesome.
But for now, I'm gonna be on The Death and Life of Great American Cities by Jane Jacobs. Basically *the* classic text in urban planning. Then I hope to get around to Underground: The Tokyo Gas Attack and the Japanese Psyche

Re: what are you reading?
Just note that the first book starts off really slowly but once it picks up...it picks up.

Re: what are you reading?
I read the first Wheel Of Time book, what a slog. I don't get why people like this series.
Particularly Brandon Sanderson; whose books I feel are superior in virtually every way. Speaking of which, I've been re-reading the Mistborn novels, which is probably my favorite fantasy series I've ever read. I didn't realize this until long after the fact, but the plot structure of Mistborn (released 2006-ish?) and Gurren Lagann (2007?) are virtually identical. People who liked that show should check out these books, they're pretty great.

Re: what are you reading?
I finished the enders series about a month ago and I was fairly happy with the ending. I feel it was a little rushed but all in all I loved the series

@Thinline: Like Blank said, the series really starts picking up. The first book is much slower than the series as a whole.
@Brye: You read the Ender's Shadow series yet?
@Thinline: Like Blank said, the series really starts picking up. The first book is much slower than the series as a whole.
And it's fucking epic. Also, the world-building. It gets over the top sometimes (like so and so's dress has this color slashes on her dress because she's from whatever country). But it's fun. Speaking of which, I picked up The Gathering Storm (the first posthumous Wheel of Time book by Brandon Sanderson) and I'm loving it. I'm honestly not sure which books in between I missed past 8 or so but it was easy enough to pick back up, although I've missed a few major events I still know what's going on. Like coming back to old friends. I may go back to the others minus Crossroads of Twilight, apparently nothing actually happens in that one. Mistborn is on my to-read list.

Re: what are you reading?
I've had plenty of hours to read while on planes, so I'm now halfway through Memory of Light, the final book of WoT. OMG. Some of the tactics business is getting tiresome, but so far through these last books it's been pretty exciting to finally see the end coming closer and closer. Serious stuff went down in the previous two books that significantly advanced or resolved some long-running plotlines.
And Egwene = BADASS.

Re: what are you reading?
I'll start on the shadow series after I finish the stack of books I've bought so far. I'll finish up with Murakami and Burroughs and then start reading the shadow series

It's still a shame that Jordan was unable to finish the books himself; no discredit to Sanderson.
