I gave up on collecting trading cards when....everyone thought they were useless and for kids only. Or atleast when kids started to play them.
Sad to say I played Yu-Gi-oh...

stamps
my father was given a collection of stamps by his great-grandfather - he pasted them in a stamp album he bought, and over the years, he put in all the stamps he recieved, bought and traded, coupled with the original stamps present in the book... and what a collection it is ;_;

Hmm....I never really quite understand why people would collect stamps. I mean I know their going to be a lot of money one day. I think of it as an odd collection. Course then again I seen people collect their pocket lint or toe jam in a jar.

i initially started off with the thought that "everybody collects, should i?", partially with a liability-conscious: if i was being handed down the collection, should i give something in return?
i'm sure it's a conforming phase and one that eventually dies out, but for some continues as a hobby in itself. any collection was stemmed from the passion to earn more (sentimental/monetary/...): pleasure, nostalgia and in the long term if we wish to sell it, - financial gain.
