Re: what are you reading?
I was in the middle of The God Delusion myself, then someone borrowed. I suspect I won't be getting it back.
Also reading a very redundant biography of Cliff Burton, and the art of war.

I love food. But one should be circumspect about anything written by a "journalist" or "activist" on any matters not specific to journalism itself, as they seldom if ever know what they are talking about, especially concerning particularly academic or technical subjects (like, say, diet). To be honest, anyone who might be identified as a "journalist" comes with a presumption of incompetence, to me. Of course, this is not to say he is wrong - but these are important red flags...and I hear that this book in particular is unapologetically anti-scientific (not just non-scientific), which would be enough for me to relegate it to that section of the archives where one might find homeopathy, anti-vaccinationism, and creationism.
So far he is very critical of nutritionism/nutrition science, and it's interesting to read through the history that shaped the average American diet. Although I do admit I started to feel like his arguments were driving toward simply saying, well, clearly it's too complex for us to understand, ergo... But I agree, it's easy for a journalist to misinterpret and propagate bad information (hence, possibly, some of our current confusion toward nutrition...).
I haven't finished it yet though, so I can't draw too many conclusions yet.

I'm currently part way through Lolita. I'm really digging Nabokov's style.

Re: what are you reading?
I found the first 30 pages or so a chore to read, but it gets better after that. The ending is kinda though.

Re: what are you reading?
Bought a Kindle yesterday. I've started downloading a lot of free classics to read. It's pretty awesome. Anyone else have a Kindle or have any recommendations on what I should download for it?
Starting The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
I really enjoyed this book. Can't say I remember much about it besides the ending, though.

Re: what are you reading?
Burned through A Dance with Dragons over the weekend- the next book in A song of Fire and Ice series that has been something like 5 years in the making. Supposedly two more books to go, hopefully the next two won't take as long. :/
I'm disappointed that more stuff didn't happen - lots of travelogue and setup going on, but I still enjoyed it.
Burned through A Dance with Dragons over the weekend
That book's, like, over 1000 pages. o_O
I refuse to watch the HBO series until I've read the books, so I consequently just started reading A Game of Thrones. Liking it a lot so far (and I'm only about 20 pages in).

I've considered hopping onto this bandwagon, but I'm not sure how I feel about reading high fantasy these days. I liked The Hobbit well enough, but LOTR was a freaking bore to me.
Still, I've heard a lot of good things about the series. Are the books worth it, Terra?

Gonna start Tom's adventures in Alaska and 1989. Been meaning to read the 1989 book for quite sometime.

I always confuse the pillows with classic English literature.
