 Re: what are you reading?
I'm reading Murakami's Sputnik Sweetheart, and there's this one part where they mention a newspaper story in which a lady dies and gets eaten by the cats trapped in her apartment. Maybe I'm just out of my mind, but I could have sworn I read this same thing in one of Murakami's other books. It may have been adapted from a short story (I've got both of the collections) but I left all of my books back in the US so I can't check. I've searched online and can't find anything. Any of you guys remember if this was in another one of his books as well?

 Re: what are you reading?
But for some reason it feels like that exact same newspaper article was in another one of his stories. Perhaps I'm suffering from a strong case of deja vu. Wish I had Elephant Vanishes or Blind Willow with me so I could check.

I'm sure they have libraries at your school.

 Re: what are you reading?
As a matter of fact I got the book-in-question from the library, but I'm not sure if they have the short story books and it didn't occur to me to look when I was there. And let's face it, it's way easier to ask people on some stupid internet forum than to sit on the library floor and flip through a bunch of books.

 Re: what are you reading?
I can't recall the specific incident you're talking about. Maybe it's something from real life that he refers to, perhaps in more than one work, though as I pointed out his works are full of cat motifs so it might simply be deja vu, as you surmised.

 Re: what are you reading?
Currently reading Catch-22 whenever I get the chance to. Pretty dense and hard to follow, but I'm still enjoying it a lot.

Read Sherman Alexie's The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian today. Typical of his stuff, I guess.
