Read: A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
Reading: Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami (might be my new favorite. Definitely has given me more erections than any other book I've read. literally.)

My history textbook; 40 pages left to go by 10:00 this morning.

D;

It's getting down and dirty with the philosophes of the 18th century, which makes me want to actually read what these dudes wrote.

I thought the Golden Compass sounded stupid, but then I heard someone on Fox News ranting about it being "atheist propoganda," so now I'm mildly interested.

Great book.[/quote]

I read Clockwork for Brit Lit summer reading.

And I happen to agree it was the most exciting book I have ever read. It made me mad as hell when all the kids in my class were like, "lol wtf is dis language dey speakin glazzy rozodocks cocks THIS BOOK SUKS! :dizzy:"

Currently I don't read anything in my spare time. But I respect the people who actually enjoy reading instead of playin the vidya or whatever. I might just randomly go to Borders and read every book that I've missed out on (Brave New World, 1984, Grapes of Wrath, Catcher and the Rye, etc.)

Also I'd like to take this reading rant time to protest my hatred for Shakespeare. Seriously, I was just forced to read Much Ado About Nothing...biggest shit fest ever.

Seriously awesome books there. While I don't really have time during the school year to read for fun here at college, I wish I did.

Also, half of Shakespeare is pretty good, half of it seems to be total crap.

Reading Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche (On the third part currently) and The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath (Only on the third chapter, but I think I'll wait to read this until I'm done with Nietzsche.) After these two books, I plan on reading Twilight of the Idols, as well as the Antichrist by Nietzsche.

I want to get some Kierkegaard. <3 Existentialism.

Brave New World is a little overrated tho. I mean, it's not bad or anything, but a lot of the themes are kind of touched upon by other books. It's a little dry, but I suppose if you haven't read any technology-will-dehumanize-us-all books, it's worth reading.

Actually, it wasn't just technology-will-dehumanize-us-all. ;p There's also a healthy mix of anti-religion in there, too. Anti-classism, as well. It shows how the individual ultimately fails to find his place in society and ends up killing himself, too (loljk@datlastpart)

Sadly, many people believe that humanity is at its best when it is a capitalistic (classist), religious society.

Religion = Humanity.

Individual will = Humanity.

Collective Unconciousness =\= Humanity.

Controlled births of 64 twins =\= Humanity.

Model T = Religion, wtf lol
