When I was at campus, I picked up "The Assault on Reason" just because the title kicked ass. I found out after opening the book up Gore wrote it, quite recently at that. I'd be reading a lot more of it, but I have to read The Color of Water, so...

Today I picked up, with my birthday money and gift certificate for Barnes and Noble, a book called Drugs of the Dreaming-Oneirogens: Salvia Divinorum and Other Dream-Enhancing Plants, Jack Kerouac's Book of Sketches, Collected Poems (1947-1980) Allen Ginsberg, The I Chong: Meditation of the Joint by Tommy Chong, and Charles Bukowski's Sifting Through the Madness for the Word, the Line, the Way.
As soon as I finish Kerouac's On the Road, I'm gonna start reading the I Chong. It seems VERY interesting.

dabbling in psychedelics now are we? reminds me of that time i ate an 8th and a half of shrooms and ended up vomiting blood. hmmm.
anyways:
DADDY WOULDNT BUY ME THE NEW HARRY POTTER BOOK. so i bussed to a friends house and read the whole thing in one sitting. OUCH. almost 800 pages.
i was pleasantly surprised with how good it was; i thought she set up way too many story threads in the 6th one for it to possibly come together without being a total cop-out in some way. but she pulled it off masterfully,
and the final battle was pretty epic.

As far as my mom thinks, I'm just interested in Indian Shamanism.
However, Thursday I smoked a shaman stick (salvia with a famous green plant known as tea to some people, weed to others. Not at the same time, two different pipes) and was tripping balls for three and a half hours. It was only 10x as well! I just smoked a lot of it. I only hallucinated for the normal amount of time, but I kept blacking out for 3 hours or so, and would forget why I was somewhere/what I was doing, then I'd remember, but I'd find myself somewhere else/doing something else. It was awesome.

Siddhartha was SO good. I really wish I still had that book. Let my brother borrow it and he ended up taking it with him to New Mexico by accident because he left it in his car when he was returning to college. Someone stole it from him -_-; which is okay, though, because I got to keep his copy of Ishmael by Daniel Quinn.

on a siddharthian note, check out tezuka osamu's Buddha - a masterpiece of the comic-book variety.
Seriously though, tezuka was a genious and he deserves to be read - with a fervent gusto - by everyone.
some great works of his available in english :
Buddha (8 volumes)
Adolph (5 volumes)
ode to kirihito
phoenix (dunno how many are translated yet, but a number of 'em)
and if you learn a bit of japanese, hundreds more :0)

Hrm, I should really read that eleventh book in the Wheel of Time series... I should really read a lot of stuff, but meh, I don't have the time.
Something about where I live just makes me... not read or do homework. I honestly don't think I ever took any assignments home unless I could do them on a computer last year.
