'trying to prevent the thread from turning into a flame war due to raid's stupid comment'
It seems like the entire board is starting to reek of KF. How many threads outside of KF haven't been utterly derailed in the past few weeks, anyway? :dizzy:

Oh, wait, I'm derailing the thread too now, aren't I?

Well anyways, I'm not much of a hardcore gamer, but I've been playing this game called Aquaria on and off for the past few months. A friend of mine recommended an even more indie game called Iji, so I might get around to trying that out sometime.

Idiocy must be stamped out and punished, wherever it may be found, to the fullest extent of my wrath. Resistance is futile.

Post Re: What are you playing?
So yeah...

Uncharted! I got around to playing the first one recently. I'm running through on crushing difficulty now, it's pretty cool when you aren't superman anymore and it only takes a few pistol hits to kill you, one shotgun blast to kill you, etc. I was really impressed with the actors who played Nathan and Elena.

I hope I can get Uncharted 2 sometime soon because I played the free beta and I LOVED THE MULTIPLAYER! I don't profess to be amazing at online deathmatches or anything, but this one match I had started four on five with two teammates quitting within the first minute. two vs. five, I figure we're screwed, right? It just so happened to be a rocket launchers only match. AND THEY WERE SHIT TERRIBLE WITH ROCKETS. Ya shoulda seen the James Bond shit I was pulling, I was in stitches the whole time! Needless to say, it was a memorable game for me because we won 50 - 24 with 24 kills each between the two of us. (the droppers got the other two points)

But yeah, the multiplayer is cool because there are tons of ways to be successful, it really reads into creativity and on-the-fly improv survivalism. I've noticed I'm much better at sneaking/blindsiding and charging campers than shootouts in the middle, and there are boosters that can improve certain characteristics such as run-and-gun accuracy and ammo capacity. If anyone has Uncharted 2, believe me, I'll be on the multiplayer frequently when I get the game, but I'm uncertain when that will be.

I also still play Pangya at least once a week. Fun game, kind of lulzy that some folks spend so much money on it, though. I spent ten bucks for a club set, that's probably all I'll ever spend for it. What can I say, it's internet golf. :)

I want Smackdown vs Raw 2010 as well, create a story, create a finisher now includes diving finishers, womens matches aren't cripplingly limited when it comes to match types, counter system reworked to one button instead of all four trigger buttons (thank you) etc. reasons why it's finally a game worth buying for me. SvR 2006 was the last good one from the series. I haven't bothered with 08 and 09. Kinda lame how 07, 08, and 09 all sucked in different ways. Good old yearly "fix one thing, break another" development bullshit. :suspicious:

For somebody who's decent at a shooter, being outnumbered on a large map is a huge advantage, you have far more targets and they're easy to find whereas they're spending (wasting) most of their time trying to find you to get one kill while you rack up a handful with ease. Also, camping is never a good idea. Except maybe on TF2/any capture the flag or king of the hill type of game.

That depends completely on how competent the other team is. If they're working together in any fashion, you ought to be significantly better than them - and the fact that they're working together probably proves that you can't really be that much better (unless it's two neophytes who spontaneously decide, "Let's stick together, man").

Also, if you only have one life (a la CS), and your success isn't based on your k/d ratio, you're probably still screwed, since at least one guy is bound to get a lucky shot.

You all have your Smash Siblings and your Pokemons, but I think this is one domain where I am, in fact, a complete loser.

Post Re: What are you playing?
I'm more of a fightan game player, but at some point late in August, it got to the point where my competitive spirit was leading to me being way too pissed. I didn't like letting myself feel that way just because I was losing to "scrubs" and winning against really good players. I stopped playing fightan games for the most part since and now I just play whatever game strikes my fancy. Right now, I'm pretty into Left4Dead. Just got a brand new computer, good one at that. Playing L4D is pretty fun. Played some with Marekenshin last night.

Definitely true, but there are a ton of different factors even beyond what we've mentioned, such as where on the map the people are at, are they camping/moving around, is it a game where you pick up weapons on the go that respawn over time or do you purchase/select them at the beginning, is everyone the same statistically or are their different characters with various strengths/weaknesses...basically every single game is going to play out differently, but for most shooters I've played (CS is a huge exception), a single player that's at least as good as his opponents will have a great chance against three or even four opponents due to the target ratio, provided that it's not a single life deal.

And yeah, Sheer is pretty much a demigod at CS, or was when he was in practice.

Elimination (one death, time limit, first team to win three rounds wins) inspires groans from everyone on mics from as many matches as I played of Uncharted 2. It didn't come up very often (like RPGs only), but I can definitely see the appeal.

I'm pretty terrible with the sniper rifle, so I have to give props to those guys that can headshot you from Timbuktu. Repeatedly. Damnnnnnnnnn.

Melee attacks are cool and have good power in Uncharted 2. I really like the feel of the cover system and the fluid, natural running and gunplay. The only thing I noticed that seemed kind of odd about melee attacks was that it was possible for two people to punch each other out. It seemed like the timing was too generous in all the times its happened to me. It seems like if you push the button to punch as you are dying, it counts it even if it doesn't look like the guy even swung back at you. I'm hoping they'll tidy that up a bit in the future. As it stands, if people are aware of the the double punch out they may instinctively hit the punch button to eye-for-eye in a close quarters shooting encounter. (I'm willing to suspend disbelief for a lot of things in Uncharted 2 but two people punching each other simultaneously resulting in death is a bit silly.)

You can thank Halo 3 for this, something that really pissed me off about the changes they made. Slower recovery from grenade throws and more simultaneous beat-down kills. :|

I'm playing Pokemon Silver Version again. I missed it so much that I just had to play it again
I don't have money or the patience to go through the Japanese version of Soul Silver/Heart Gold so I'm willing
to wait for the American Release. :)
