1984 was pretty dull, at least to me.

I tried to, but it bored me. Despite being the man, Tolkien could be very long-winded and boring as sin at times.

Yes, I've read the simarillion. In fact, I own every tolkien book except LOTR.

I loved the idea behind that book, though I thought the book itself was lacking . . . I didn't like the end too much . . . :|

I bought it. I can't believe I got half-way through it before having to stop. I liked the Lord of the Rings books alright (I definitely wasn't  about them like tons of other people were), but the Silmarillion is horribly boring.

heh. I liked it. Lord of the rings, on the other hand, is not my favourite. I'm much more interested in the whole mythology he made than the fantasy that was the most exciting, really. Although it was good.

the silmarillion sure got boring really quick...it is just like reading a history book, where a large portion of the people have quite similar names. Got kinda annoying. But i read it all.

Right now i'm reading Asimov's Foundation, George RR Martin's A Clash of Kings, and re-reading both the Wheel of Time and Harry Potter seriesI read multiple series at once, depending on what book i'm in the mood for.
