 Re: manga!!!
Since someone mentioned this thread...
Manga I'm currently reading:
One Piece Naruto Bleach Beelzebub Hajime no Ippo
Sucks that Berserk's been on extended hiatus. I hear it's supposed to return in May or something.
Although, after all this time, I think I can come to respect Hiroya Oku's message at the end of Gants in that mankind's belief that there has to be a meaning to life is pure arrogance and that there really is no meaning of life.

 Re: manga!!!
Guy-sensei...ALL OF THE FEELS. ALL OF THEM. On a more related note: I've been reading The Breaker and Tower of God recently. The Breaker is your typical shounen manhwa (Korean,) but Tower of God is very original. I'm really digging it. Y'all should check it out some time. Kind of reminds me of Azure Dreams if any of you've played that before.

 Re: manga!!!
It's kinda hard to believe that Naruto is finally over. I have mixed feelings about it, but I liked the ending overall. I especially loved the Mugiwara (strawhat) drawn onto Naruto's statue in the end.
Anywho, I've been reading a Korean manhwa called The Gamer recently. It's pretty fun. Basically, one day, a kid gets an MMO-esque window that pops up in front of his face IRL and he suddenly starts seeing status and level bars over everyone's heads. His life coincides with that of a game world. It's a pretty new comic, but it's pretty promising.
Also: I don't recall if I've mentioned it yet, but Tower of God is pretty goddamn awesome and I highly recommend it to anyone who's seeking something a little different. It's one of the most original comics I've read in a long time.

 Re: manga!!!
I've been reading Noblesse recently. The first fifty chapters or so were kind of a slog (at least to me) but the story is pretty interesting now, and there are a lot of chapters to catch up on. You can read Noblesse (and a lot of other comics) at http://www.webtoons.com if you're so inclined. I'm pretty sure they're sponsored by the Korean government so you should be able to expect pretty consistent uploads. It's all free, and you'll be supporting the authors by reading the comics there.

 Re: manga!!!
Homunculus. http://mangafox.me/manga/homunculus/ The artwork is really great: realistic as well as surrealistic. The sceneries and backgrounds are great. The plot may make you look at the world in a different way. It's a psychological story about a man who finds himself between the rich world and the poor, living in his own small car. You don't get to know much of the guy in the first 2/3 of the story. But that doesn't matter that much. I like the themes the story touches on. The plot made me think of Fight Club sometimes (it is really different though) and there were some hints of Death Note. It's a short series, I finished it in three days.

 Re: manga!!!
One Piece. Makes me giddy like a kiddie. (spoilers)
Luffy finally has an army (read: navy) to call his own. Starting to shape up and be a real power player. I loved the part where he challenged Vice Admiral Fujitora and said how would he be able to call himself the pirate king if he was afraid of fighting people, so the Marines, the Shichibukai, the Four Emperors, anybody... he'd take them all on.

 Re: manga!!!
Gotta recommend Naoki Urasawa's manga. Basically all of them. http://myanimelist.net/people/1867/Naoki_Urasaware: previous page I agree that Gantz was pretty great. Excellent pulpy stuff. Erotic eye-catch pages, detailed, horrific violence, characters and situations designed to appeal to the readers' animal instincts. Wonderful stuff up until the last story arc, in which the author clearly was rushing to the finish line. Berserk is better in every way, though. Oh, and Yotsuba to. Plus Sen to Man... nobody is gonna know that one, but it's a cute, infrequently-updated series about a father and daughter who's just entering puberty. The art is appealing, and it does a good job with the daily life observation comedy that manga of this type focus on.

 Re: manga!!!
Seconding Urasawa, everyone should read both Monster and 20th Century Boys, at minimum.

 Re: manga!!!
I'd rec Pluto just as highly. A lot of people criticize the third acts of his manga (I don't share this view), but Pluto at least is spared from this tendency to meander toward the end.

 Re: manga!!!
Pluto was brilliant, like when a band steps away from their main work and drops a genius EP that steps off the beaten path. Can't believe I forgot to mention that one, lol. Good catch.
