They've made plenty of remakes of classic FF games, but FFX is hardly a classic. Maybe in comparison to the sequels, but that's like saying that Star Wars Episode 1 was a classic compared to Episodes 2 and 3.

I would consider the ps1 ff games as 'classics' FF9 was the last good FF game imo. Crisis core was good. But it was not it's own game.

FF 5 and 6 on 3DS with graphical overhaul as with 3 and 4 on DS or GTFO.

Christ this post has too many abbreviations.

Update time, Wii-U console launch November 18th, two models, $300 and $350 deluxe version. games are $59.99. http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/09/13/wii-u-price-release-date-announced

And also the days news of Bayonetta 2 as a Wii-U exclusive http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2012/09/13/bayonetta-2-will-be-a-wii-u-exclusive-published-by-nintendo/ has caused many a fanboy to require emergency colon reconstruction. Tis a good day.

I wonder if Nintendo is trying to shoot for something more 'edgy' by having Bayonetta 2 be Wii U exclusive. :eh:

Post Re: E3 2011: PS Vita and Wii U
I tweeted today: "Bayonetta 2 a WiiU exclusive. We all just heard the sound of Nintendo pulling their heads out of their asses. #WiiU"
This is EXACTLY what Nintendo needs to do. Not only is it a 'core' AAA exclusive, but NINTENDO is publishing the damn thing. If you don't understand why this is a big deal, check out this list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_pr ... ntendo#Wii

Now, I'm not saying the Wii U is going to be a success, but at least Nintendo is -listening- to it's consumers, fans, and faithful. Give us games that aren't the same old rehashes of the same old IPs we've had since the '80s. Is this too little too late? Probably.. almost certainly. But I am happy to see Nintendo doing -something- right for once. Too bad they're going the cheap, outdated hardware to maximize profit route again.

Post Re: E3 2011: PS Vita and Wii U
I don't know, folks... I'm not much of a hardcore gamer. Nintendo's consoles are the only ones I really play, but I'm not too excited about Wii U. 349.99 is pretty expensive for a "deluxe" package that includes a game that looks like it should be a pack-in title. Looks like a Wii Sports kind of deal... The only launch title that I care the least bit about is New Super Mario Bros. U. I like those games, but... New Super Mario Bros. 2 was released just last month on 3DS.
I guess I'm an old fogey. I miss the days when a console actually launch with worthwhile, groundbreaking titles. SNES with Mario World, N64 with Mario 64... hell, even Gamecube had Luigi's Mansion, which at least was a new experience. With Wii U, Nintendo's offering for a launch title is just an upgraded version of a game that we got last month. Pretty shitty, folks. I need more convincing before I decide to buy this console.

I'm not much of a gamer, but I play my Wii from time to time. The Wii U looks interesting, but I'm not sure I'll throw down for one. At least not immediately. I'll probably wait a few months and see how the thing fares before getting one.

Plebeians! I know I will be getting the Big Boy Bundle, because I'm a big boy now and I don't wear the shoes with straps anymore! Nope, mommy took them all to goodwill! :D

http://trendygamers.com/2012/09/14/gamestop-crazy-wii-bundles-lists-ultimate-bundle-1000-big-boy-bundle-510/

The thing about hardware is... I don't think it would be smart for the industry to make another significant technology leap at this point. I read an article recently that really went into detail about how rough it is these days, unfortunately I forgot to bookmark it so I'm going to try and recall from it. 100 million+ for budgets is no longer uncommon, which creates an environment where the game must sell two or three million units to break even, with the results often coming short and bankrupting or finacially wrecking developers left and right. For example, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/24/kingdoms-of-amalur-reckoning-had-to-sell-3m-just-to-break-even/ That's what we currently have, now consider if the developers had to create games in this environment with bleeding edge technology, like the people who want PS4 to arrive like, right now gimme gimme graficks!. Like the guys over at Epic Games. http://www.gamesthirst.com/2012/05/21/epic-games-has-seen-ps4xbox-720-specs-theyre-not-powerful-enough/

There are people in the game industry right now who are salivating at the thought of Pixar film quality models running at blazing speeds... No. I don't think we truly have the necessary resources, human and otherwise, to do this profitably. We have to watch we don't fly into the sun here. I don't think it's a shame at all that Nintendo's new games' visuals will be pretty much equal to what we currently have, with developers later down the road being able to better optimize games for it. Sony said all along that the PS3 was meant to last for a decade, and considering the financial trouble they are in, I'd hope they stay the course, the PS3 is still plenty powerful. I'm not so sure what Xbox should do... but I'm not sold on the notion that they need to make a new console next year either.

I really don't give a shit what a high end spanking new PC bleeding edge graphics card can do for the amount of money it costs. I don't need that. Consoles don't either. Consoles need developers who aren't in a financial death grip.

And the Vita isn't quite the money printing machine so far, unfortunately. Had to tie that in somewhere since the thread has both in the title lol.

And for the mario comment, shit, I haven't bought a new traditional Mario game since Super Mario 64. If you count spinoffs like Super Princess Peach and Yoshis Island DS, yeah, but those could have been better. Yeah, I've never played Sunshine, Galaxy, Galaxy 2, nor have I played any of the NSMB series or 3D Land. Mario games don't really factor in these days. Of course I don't think they aren't worthwhile, but for some reason I haven't felt compelled to pick them up anymore. Almost the same thing with Zelda, I stopped around three dungeons into Twilight Princess like a lightswitch went off, "nah, I don't like these games anymore." I dunno.

:update: The Deluxe preorders at Gamestop are already sold out!

Just because every company can't be a Bethesda or a Valve doesn't mean that technology shouldn't be advanced. It isn't technology's fault that all these small potatoes developers/publishers hurl millions of dollars that they don't have into brand new IPs that the average consumer doesn't care about. It's sad what happened to 38 Studios, of course, but that's just a testament to what the video game market is all about these days. You just can't magically create a AAA IP, especially if it's the respective developer's first game. Having the ability and resources to develop a huge budget title isn't a privilege or God-given right. You have to earn it. Plus, it isn't like the video game market is limited to traditional console and PC games. Viable markets: iOS, Android, Indie PC, Indie console, and hell even the Wii is cheaper to develop games for. Look at your budget first, then look at your options.

Hell, look at games like Disgaea, or pretty much any game developed by Nippon Ichi. "Shitty" graphics; fun games.

I would much rather see another Legend of Mana, with a larger story and many more areas to explore in all its 2-D glory than another Call of Duty rehash. I think it's a shame how a lot of developers overlook how beautiful or endearing a game can be without relying on cutting edge graphics.

This being said, I've felt this way since the advent of the PS2; however, I find myself spoiled by today's graphics--it's kind of hard going back and replaying things on older systems now.

In all honesty, the launch window looks pretty good to me. I can't comment on how launch week sales will go, but compare Wii-U's Launch DAY http://mynintendonews.com/2012/09/16/wii-u-launch-games-list-is-mighty-impressive/ to others in the past. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_game_console_launch_games#Famicom.2FNintendo_Entertainment_System

CoDBLOPS2 seems like it should perform nobly in sales, considering the reports that everything works as intended without lag and latency issues the gamepad/tv multiplayer in lieu of split screen. I understand that CoD players are massively installed on the other systems but I think it is an attractive choice sitting in the window. Hell, I've never played CoD, so what's stopping me from picking it up?

Ninja Gaiden 3 supposedly has features that address complaints from it's initial release. It has the potential to be the best version of the game. Again, the core audience has a potential "best version" on Wii-U.

Pikmin 3 Sure to be a hit with the core.

Lego City: Undercover seems like it should sell well considering Lego games popularity, and it does look pretty damn fun.

The Wonderful 101 I've heard it's gameplay being described as a mix of Viewtiful Joe and Pikmin, again a fun looking new game.

Sonic All Star Racing Transformed is going to be $39.99, looks crazy fun. Preorder bonus Metal Sonic and an extra course.

Internets will not stop hyping the new Monster Hunter, obviously the Bayonetta 2 news, Way Forward is working on a Wii-U Shantae game, Tank! Tank! Tank!, Potentially new Star Fox or F-Zero, Smash Brothers Kerfuffle... I think it looks very nice with some strong choices for a variety of audiences. Mini game titles for kids and all ages fun, Sports games that you know gamer dads are gonna want to pick up, High profile series like ACIII, Rayman and CoD, Nintendo's offerings of NSMBU and Nintendo Land are sure to sell well for kids, and more adventurous titles like ZombiU and Wonderful 101 have that hard-to-classify wildcard appeal... just hopefully they don't pull a Red Steel! Reading around, all I see is that everyone who wants one seems excited to pick up at least three games from a pool of several. However one may feel about how we got to this point from the way Nintendo marketed the Wii-U, and considering the apparent high demand of preorders from several many retailers, it feels like this ball is already rolling.

Hopefully caring about art as part of video games should push you away from this one. The game's theme is a propaganda-fest against populism and in favor of capitalism as the system of liberty and freedom, when we don't even have a truly fair capitalism going on yet, and it does more to prevent the spreading of wealth than it does create it. I've bought every COD up to this point and will not be supporting this one.

Also, The New Super Mario Bros. DS was pretty good, btw.
