 Re: Gran Turismo
Driving to the grocery store in a 15 year old Toyota Camry with an automatic transmission is more of a racing simulation than any video game ever will be. You are also exposed to real-life automobile 'tuning' skills, such as external body sanitation, ceraceous improvement, and wheel substitution; to more advanced skills, such as engine lubrication and brake pad restoration. Maybe you'll even get to break out the Ding King every now and then, and unless you live in New Jersey, you will even learn important gasoline replenishment techniques.

You can say that mostly about any game. It's best to buy an actual guitar then waste 100$ buying a plastic one with Guitar Hero. I approve of that <.< Why waist money with a plastic thing? Just get a real one and stop pretending!
If you want a real experience in real life instead of playing GTA why not just go steal a car and cause some terror.
etc.

It's so true. That's why I sold Forza 2.

 Re: Gran Turismo
AND, the crazy hard-to-play racers like Tokyo Extreme Racer Drift 2. It got bad reviews because its a pain in the ass to learn, and obviously these dudes didn't put much time/effort into learning it so they could give it a proper review. It is a pain to learn, thats the fun of it (for me, at least), it also incorporates the better, more complex parts/aspects of touge DORAIBing (LONELY DORAIBA?). No ABS, heavy shifting/steering, more realistic. Plus the nice selection of cool drifting cars. (I'm using a hachiroku levin) Then there are the narrow-ass touge courses (Haruna, Irohazaka, Hakone, Rokko, Akagi, Myogi, etc.) which just teaches more control. The other cars are freaking D1GP cars, like Tsuchiya's Trueno, or the HyperSilvia(?). But this game is more for people who are into cars, and drifting, and the touge scene, all of the JP racing scene. So that may have contributed to the reviews. Either ways, I'm a sim fan. But the people who say (to quote GR) "Wait, I have to brake at corners? What the fuck is this shit?" should play stuff like pro street. Its all just what you're into by way of racing and cars. Halp![/quote] Wrong choice of words. Glad to see thats all you guys took in. But, metal, you should use the original drift formula. Brake in the direction you are cornering proportional to the angle and length of the corner itself, let the rear slip, pull the e-brake for easier slippage or sexier drift angle, start countersteering at the time where it won't cause PIA understeer, pedalwork (brake/gas/ebrake/etc.) to control drift, stay near apex of wide corner/ drift outside the apex on a tight corner, level out on the exit, and open the throttle to burst out of the corner. Takes awhile, I still can't do it right.

 Re: Gran Turismo
i actually own TXR 2 and the japanese version of the series Kaido Battle 2. They are a bit frustrating to learn but can be fun for a month or two, IF you're somewhat of a racing/drifting fan. It honestly just takes a bit too long to beat before you get tired of the repetitiveness of the challenges (especially that challenge where you have to get a certain amount of drift points in each zone and if you hit the wall, you fail and have to start all over again....wtf were they thinking? seriously). The cars also DO handle a bit like shopping carts though, so it's unpopularity with casual gamers isn't unfounded.
