Disenchant would be much more reasonable.
Well, to just stop the combo, yeah, it's much simpler, but you'd have to use it in response to Donate or otherwise before you get ahold of the enchantment. Plus, what fun is Disenchant?
I seriously think, though, that with the Sliver Queen, you'll lose 9 times out of ten because you won't be able to cast one.
Hey, maybe the combo's not super-tournament-worthy or anything, but it works, and it's not nearly as hard as you're thinking to play the card. There are countless ways to get around mana cost.
Non-basic lands galore (dual lands, pain lands, etc.), Blood Celebrant, Crystal Quarry, Pulse of Llanowar, Æther Vial, Elvish Piper, Riptide Shapeshifter...and PLENTY of others can get you out a Sliver Queen without much trouble at all.

It's a fun game, and it really makes you think. And, as I said before, I used to play a lot. I wish I had the money and the friends to play with to still play sometimes.

He's right, it's a really fun game that people from all walks of life can get into.
However, it's a major drain on one's bank account, but I was always extremely moderate in that I'd buy maybe one pack a week at most. However, you see other people unloading a fortune into it...
I haven't even looked at the cards since a little after 6th edition came out, and I keep wondering what to do with all the cards. One benefit, though, is that they do smell good.

I never spent much money at a time, but over the many years that I played the cards built up, and I must have spent a pretty good deal of money on them overall. (I started off by getting an incredible deal on buying someone's cards that he didn't want anymore.) Generally, I'd buy new cards every time a new set came out, because, generally, friends and I would buy a box of the new set and have a tournament.
I certainly knew a couple people who would unload their fortunes on cards, though, yeah. I just have this trouble with spending money...I hate doing it. Which I definitely think is a good thing. I always figure that I don't actually need to spend the money, so I shouldn't. Buying cards and video games and other things to entertain myself has been rare, though I was always very happy to get them for Christmas and my birthdays.
When I'm at home, I might still play with my brother or a friend, but it's very rare now, like a couple times a year. Too bad, because it's still a great game.

We all aspire to reach a level of nerd-dom tantamount to method's. Of course, it's an unachievable goal, but we can dream, can't we?

I one time made this super-powerful phantom deck. It was filled with expendable creatures and mana so that when/if I got my exoskeletal armor I could make my Phantom Nishoba nigh invincible. I also put Inviolability on him.
EDIT: I also made a deck based entirely off of threshold abilities and those cards that do stuff when you discard them, or the ones that can be played by discarding them. It was amazing.

Madness!? I always wanted to see someone use Madness or, even more, make a deck that uses Madness myself. I think everyone I knew used Threshold at some point or another, but I never even saw Madness in action.

Yeah, that's what the ability was called. Madness. I had a bunch of disenchants that I could play with the Madness ability, as well as just various other cards, so I could build up to Threshhold REALLY fucking fast and then ravage my opponents with boosted creatures, all of whom gained flying and other cool abilities. It was my second best deck, and second funnest.
The phantom deck, I stacked in two Mirari's wakes so that I could be more likely to get it. I also had the rare green elemental, Genesis, so that I could pay 3 and 1 green during my upkeep to return any creature from my graveyeard to my hand. As most people just use "destroy target creature" as opposed to "remove target creature from the game," it was REALLY effective. I also had a land called Riftstone Portal that I would just discard because it made it so any land I had could produce either white or green mana. Mirari's wake was really one of the key elements of the deck. A phantom, according to the hints in the Judgement series deck pack, with an enchantment that gave him boosted stats, could not die from damage, as damage is prevented, even if there is no +1/+1 counter to remove. Of course, if the enchantments were destroyed, they die, but some people are stupid enough to forget counterspells and disenchants in their decks. What this meant is I could block any attack without taking damage, and build up my behemoth Nishoba up to a 43/43 with trample, flying, attacking does not cause him to tap, cannot be the target of spells or abilities, and whenever he deals damage I gain that much life. It was glorious. Throw in a Planar Portal to let you search your deck for ANY CARD YOU WANT, and once you get going, your opponent is pretty much done for. Unfortunately, a lot of the key cards for that deck mysteriously disappeared from my shelf. I suspect one of my little brothers took them, but have absolutely no idea what happened (which sucked; not being able to make my best deck correctly kind of made me stop playing, as I wasn't willing to go buy/search for all the cards I needed again).
a lot
haha, yeah. I can see that you really liked that deck. As I said, one of my friends has a deck like that. It's really frustrating to play against, sometimes.
Your other one sounds like much more my type of deck, though.
My favorite colors are definitely black and green, with red not too far behind. White and blue annoy me, and they're usually not so much fun to play with, at least for me, though sometimes I'll use them along with other colors. I won my first draft with a W/U deck, though, so...
I have this W/R deck that's focused around Powerstone Minefield...it's amazing, if not refined, due to lack of cards. My main problem is that I only actually have two Minefields, and, though it can work without getting one out, it's way more effective if I have one. It's so much fun to use, and it's actually decent, not to mention unique. I use Crimson Acolytes to give my creatures protection from red and Zealous Inquisitors to redirect damage and stuff like that. It's great.
By the way, Dross Harvester is only the best card ever.

I'm not that big of a Magic nerd to know all those cards, but the Acolytes were fucking awesome. Put in a few of those guys...
Also, circle of protections. I traded them to my brother Ezra for some cards for my phantom, threshhold, and Black/W cleric deck (modded off of a boxed deck from the Onslaught series, I think it was), but I once had all of them. They could be pretty fucking annoying to play against. OH LOOK, YOU CAN'T HURT ME. OOPS. Worse than the acolytes by far in terms of annoyance factor.
My phantom was a G/W deck, my threshhold all W, and my cleric deck obviously Black/W. My other favorite combo was R/Black, those two colors just worked REALLY well together. Direct damage and creature destruction.

Not always a power player. I was big on finding a deck where ALL the creatures, spells, and artifacts worked together to complement each other as best I could. I mean, white cards generally aren't that powerful, and white is my favorite color. But yeah, I always tried to ensure I could bust out with some big damage. XD
I mean, what's not to love about a creature who's boosted your life up over 200 while demolishing everything your opponent has in just a few short turns?
