Nah, not so much. Don't get me wrong; the game's still well-done. The scale of the environment is impressive, the cities are really well-done (San Fierro's my favorite), and the engine has really improved a lot over the previous two. But something about Vice City's '80s tropical theme just worked for me.

I liked how sleazy the Miami-type scene was. And I loved them tunes. There was something wonderful about going on a murderous rampage while listening to "Get Down Saturday Night."

MGS3:S is not such a huge overhaul or 'director's cut', its more like an enhancement. The new camera angle is excellent and is the main difference in the games. The cutscenes have also been reworked and some dialogue has been changed.
But easily the most significant change is the addition of an online mode.
It's a great game though, and I'll be trying the online mode later tonight.

the camera is what turned me off in MGS 3. I'm gonna buy just for the camera man. thirty bucks for full 360 movement sounds like a deal to me.

QFT.
Although I liked Vice City's atmosphere a lot more.[/quote]
agreed. Though San Andreas was cool cause of its ghettoness, i still liked vice city more overall.

Well, San Andreas' map is really well done. I'm impressed with the scale of it, and the design and layout of the three cities. Lost Santos is really interesting to drive around in, and San Fierro's hilly streets are a blast to ramp off of. Las Venturas is a bit blah to me, aside from the Venturas Strip. And then the rural areas are fun, as is highway travel. It's just the whole west coast gangsta solo storyline that doesn't work for me. The soundtrack wasn't too impressive to me either, though I do like some songs on Radio X and K-DST.
I'd love to see Vice City's map and missions ported over to SA where the new features could be taken advantage of. Vice City's whole 80s soundtrack was wonderfully nostalgic, and the Miami Beach feel of the place rocked, too.
Uh...yeah. I'm done now. Sorry.

The online mode was great.
Nothing really great or complex but entertaining.
Only thing is most people hang out in the Solid Snake lobby.
