Despite being classified as flying, I do not think that Charizard is vulnerable to attacks which are effective against flying Pokemon (i.e. lightning).

Another thing I always wondered is why they would classify dragon-type attacks as effective against dragons, when the ONLY dragon-type attack took a constant 40 hit points no matter what, every attack.

Wrong about Charizard. He would get raped by lightning and double-raped by rock. The dragon thing doesn't really matter until later games when you get moves like dragon claw and outrage. You're right, though, it doesn't make much sense in the context of red and blue.

I've never played any of the Pokemon games. Though it was a pretty big deal for a while in middle school, most kids I knew cared more about the card game.

BUT....

I was obsessed with Dragon Quest Monsters I and II (known at the time as Dragon Warrior. By this time the whole Pokemon thing had pretty much passed over.) Those games were similar in principle, but seemed to let you do way more (I think) by breeding monsters. I must have spent hundreds of hours trying to get the Boss family of monsters in those games. And I did. Multiple times.

But I doubt anyone here is familiar with those games. I have a penchant for obscure stuff in general (Japanese indie rock, anyone?)

That wasn't my lineup, by the way...I'm saying that's basically what everyone I'd play against did, because they knew the rare candy trick...if I remember correctly, my lineup was...

Those were my mains, anyways.

I had a pretty sweet team:

1. Pikachu
2. Charizard
3. Blastoise
4. Venasaur
5. Mewtwo
6. (don't remember; I used a lot of different ones in this position depending on who I was going up against)

They were such high levels that I hardly used more than three in any one battle.

On Fire Red I have:

01. Charizard
02. Scizor
03. Lapras
04. Gengar

...and I can't remember the rest. I haven't touched the game in a long time, and I left it at my girl's house so I can't check it right now.
