Long life is more important than short recharge times, in my opinion.
Also, according to the news, scientists have discovered the cure for cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimers.
But until these "discoveries" can be manufactured and sold to people, I don't really give a shit.
My point is that technology for improving batteries has been improving and is going to continue to keep improving, and I was using that as a specific example. Battery manufacturers said that they would probably be able to implement that technology in as short a time as one year, so by the time cell phones get ridiculously good, chances are that battery life and recharge times will have improved a lot as well.

Oh yeah, good point.

That's why owning an iPhone is completely crazy to me. With moderate usage, you'll be hard pressed to get through an entire day without a charge......Batteries need to last. I'd rather have a good phone with amazing battery life than a top of the life phone with poor battery life. It's not even worth it if I can't rely on it.
I've always thought, based on the way I've seen people use the iPhone as a novelty instead of an actual phone, that the low battery life is caused by the constant dicking around some people do with all those apps. If you aren't constantly using it to play games, for instance, the screen light is not always on and as a result the battery might last longer.

But isn't the point of the iPhone/AppStore TO constantly dick around with apps? It's sort of like saying "Your food supply would last longer if you'd just eat less food." The point of food is to eat it!!

Sort of. That's dumb, but you get what I mean.
I contend that with the mobile phone device (something that's pretty important for modern life [keeping in touch via voice and text]) you should never have to worry about poor battery life. Unless you're totally just going crazy, like streaming high quality video over 3G.

That's what I demand out of a phone.

aaaaand edited for "food food" typo.
