 Re: Animal Crossing: City Folk
So far, it seems that I am spending 90% of my time fishing to make money. And that's what this game is. It's a slow process. The whole game is making enough money until you can buy the next upgrade or item...am I missing something?

Essentially, yeah. But if you view it in such black and white terms, it loses the fun. Yes, it does drop you into a situation where you are Tom Nook's debt-bitch. But the whole point is to enjoy yourself while you deal with paying your house off (which really isn't a major point at all).
This involves...fishing, catching bugs, finding fossils, planting trees (and foreign trees from other towns), talking to people, designing clothes/umbrella patterns, teaching villagers dirty words, changing the town tune, participating in events like New Years, other holidays, K.K. Slider's performances, chatting up the villagers.
The moment you boil Animal Crossing down to "MAKE MONEY. PAY TOM NOOK. MAKE MONEY. PAY TOM NOOK." is the moment you should evaluate why exactly you're playing the game.
Explaining why Animal Crossing is fun is hard. Either it charms your socks off or it doesn't.

 Re: Animal Crossing: City Folk
Well, it is fun doing all those things, but I can knock them off in a couple hours. I really like doing "favors" to all my animal neighbors, but they don't ask as often as I'd like. So that leaves wealth accumulation, via fishing - which is fun, but it gets old after a few hours. I think the game would be more fun to play with other people, but it's difficult when you're my age, and I don't want to go around the internet on AC communities asking random people to play with me just yet. So what I'm saying is...somebody get this game. If you have Wild World, you can transfer your character, even.

I could emulate the DS one and play with you, but not the wii one.
