oh goodness. i always thought that the scariest thing about horror films was the music...
it's the spine-chillingest thing.
i saw the shining two nights ago, and the music chimed in my ear like an addictable accordian tune ringing from the grave.

how would you compare the horror films produced today and in the past, do you have any favorites (scenes, actors, scripts or films), has this genre ever scared you (experiences!)...?

no, i have no opinion on modern horror movies, because I haven't seen any, but The Tenant is still my favorite one of all time.

The Exorcist is basically the beginning and end of horror for me.

The Ring was kinda scary. Besides those, I like cheesy old stuff like The Omen and Amityville Horror series.

the most frightening thing about this scene is the decor of the bathroom (red, blood reminiscence) and how grady nonchalantly delivers his lines of having "no recollection" of killing his family.

comparing the scary horror films to the not-so scary ones, is that the scary ones have a consistent resolve to explode out of the screen, even if nothing seems to be taking place.

I don't know if it really fits into horror, but I saw One Hour Photo a few days ago on TV. Robin Williams was excellent as a psychopath.

i really believe robin william's acting skills were brushed to perfectionism with [i]one hour photo[/i]. one wouldn't think robin williams could make your skin crawl ^_^

the film's background is surreal optimum: the white, bright lights in the department store in contrast to where sy lives, which is dark, and dull.

bloodwork had an excellent villain. it's not a horror movie, but the sheer cleverness of using the guy from dumb & dumber was awesome.

I loved "28 Days Later." It's probably the best horror flick I've ever seen. Sure you don't see many zombies as, say, "Dawn of the Dead", the chemistry between the characters is golden.

Also, I can't wait for "The Devil's Rejects".

Not a movie, but the Resident Evil series has always freaked me out, especially the REmake for the GC. I practically shat myself when I saw my first crimson head (for those that know the series). They all have that creepy atmosphere and RE 2 had a piano song that was pretty haunting. RE 4 though....

it was indeed good. though i just felt sympathy for williams' character in the very end. he was just a really screwed up guy, not a cold-blooded psycho.

original or hollywood ring, jomei?

I haven't gotten around to seeing any of the original versions of these recent Hollywood remakes of Japanese horror films.

i thought the original was better. samara was just an angry little ghost compared to sadako.
