Anyone watched this show? Thoughts? I watched the first few episodes on Netflix and was quite entertained. While I feel like the show is at least 95% bullshit, I'd be lying if I said it wasn't thought provoking in some capacity. And, despite a lot of their arguments degenerating into: "I DON'T UNDERSTAND, SO IT MUST HAVE BEEN ALIENS", the lack of answers from modern science only makes their far-out explanations seem more plausible to an uneducated public. |

I've seen the episode where they say aliens provided a machine to feed the Jews for 40 years after leaving Egypt, and that the Great Pyramid was a power plant. Seemed pretty silly to me. |

Silly but fun. I always find it amusing when people think ancient humans were too stupid to build pyramids or Stonehenge or whatever. Just because we have iPhones doesn't mean we're really that much smarter ancient people. As a wise man once said, chronological snobbery is a hallmark of the poorly educated. |

As in, even with today's technology creating them would be a difficult task. Of course, I forget where I'd heard that, so. |

There's no denying the intelligence of ancient man. As someone else said upthread, having iPhones doesn't necessarily make us more intelligent than our predecessors. The intricacy of various ancient structures however, makes one wonder if ancient humans had the ability to create such things without assistance. What's more, there are structures (the pyramids) that are made up of enormous blocks- some of which we would not be able to move with modern machinery. How they managed this is something of a mystery. And while historians have their theories, the fact of the matter is that we still don't exactly know how these things were built. If nothing else, historians need to re-evaluate the technological capabilities of ancient man. It's stupid to jump to conclusions, of course. "Well, since I can't explain it, I guess it was aliens" doesn't really work for me, but it is interesting food for thought. Is it possible that aliens came to Earth and influenced ancient humans? Yes. But is it reasonable to believe this without some sort of proof? Nope. The biggest draw for me is watching these guys use ridiculous, baseless theories as a foundation for even more ridiculous theories. It's an entertaining ride, if nothing else. |

The only episode of Ancient Aliens I found fascinating was the one where they were talking about some South American civilization that altered the shape of their babies' heads to resemble that of our (mis)conceptions of what aliens are. These people also made cliff carvings of mankind (and aliens, I think.) |

So that's where that guy comes from. I've seen that guy before around the internets but never bothered to figure out where the photo was from. |

His name's Giorgio A. Tsoukalos. He's pretty popular on the internets. Lol. |

Spotted this, interesting theory on the pyramids. Does not involve aliens. http://www.archaeology.org/0705/etc/pyramid.html |

It makes a lot more sense to me than the alien hypothesis. I wonder what the crew of Ancient Aliens would have to say about it? |

I'm not saying it's aliens, but it's aliens. |
