Premiered on HBO this past Sunday. Yay!
I haven't read the books in a long long time (which is probably for the best so I'm not mentally comparing every plot point) but I think they've mostly done a good job so far, and I'll keep watching. I honestly couldn't say if someone who hadn't read the books would like it though. It's gotten some criticism for the large number of characters, but it's not that hard to keep track if you've read the books. There was an implied sex scene with Daenerys and Khal Drogo that went differently in the book - I can only guess they did it that way for shock factor, which is annoying considering there's hardly a lack of shocking things.

I was also confused by the actors for the Dothraki... I would have assumed they were supposed to be one race, and yet they had black actors and pasty and tanned white actors too. Like, wuuut? Pick one thing!
(Edit: I guess some of the people in scenes with the Dothraki were supposed to be slaves, but that wasn't clear in the first episode, or from my fuzzy memory of the book.)
